|After When Angels Fall|

Zane's POV:

"No!" I shouted as the stairs beneath her gave out and she went crashing into the water just seconds before I could grab her hand and pull her over with us where she'd be safe.

Everyone screamed as they watched her crash into the water and the stairs went falling down around her...oh please no...please surface somewhere else...just anywhere else.

Garroth dragged me back when the floor gave out underneath where I was just standing and hit the ground.

She's not coming back...

Shooting up out of bed, I looked around the dark cabin with heavy breathes and shook my head, trying to get that awful memory out of my head again.

It's been 4 days since we were saved by another cruise ship and every single time I close my eyes, I see her and I see the fear in her eyes just before the stairs gave out underneath her.

The moment she realized I wasn't going to be able to grab her in time before she went crashing into that water and never resurfaced again...the moment she realized she couldn't be saved.

I heard a knock on the door and walked over there and pulled it open to see Garroth standing there with a small smile on his face and coffee in his hand.

"The ships docking and we'll meet with the other survivors...maybe she got saved by someone else" I stared at him and took the coffee he held out to me but I didn't say anything.

I can't get my hopes up...

We didn't see her with the other survivors when we got out of the ship and we've searched this entire cruise ship for her and we still haven't found her.

What if she didn't make it off the ship...what if she went down with the ship...what if she's never coming back...what if they never find her out there...there's so many questions running through my midn.

I walked out of the cabin and headed towards the upper deck to get off this stupid ship and back on land finally and just try and forget the horrible memories of what happened.

What if she's dead...

Garroth remained quiet as he walked with me and we slowly met with everyone else as we started making our way to get off the ship and seen everyone waiting on the docks.

There were families waiting there to see if their loved ones made it off the sinking ship and even more survivors that were trying to find their friends and family who might've been on the ship with them.

She's not going to be there...is she?

My parents were waiting nearby and started sobbing when they realized we were all alright and immediately came running over to us and pulled us into hugs.

I looked around but I couldn't find any sign of her and I know I shouldn't be expecting anything good but what if Garroth is right and she made it off and was saved.

"Where's Kawaii-Chan?" Mom asked.

"We got separated from her...we don't know where she is" Garroth answered and mom's eyes widened as she looked over me but I remained quiet and didn't say a word to them.

I can't speak...

I haven't spoken since we got off the ship because if I do, I'll start crying and then the reality of losing her will sink in and I'm not prepared to go through that yet.

I'm not prepared to go through the grief of losing her and having to say goodbye to her so it is easier not to speak and just remain quiet and I'll keep myself togehter.

Mom wrapped her arms around me but I didn't hug her back and just stared ahead into the crowd of survivors and their friends and families trying to find each other.

We started making our way in that direction and pushing through the crowd of people as I kept an eye out for anything that might prove that she's still alive.

"Oh my irene..." I looked over at Katelyn and seen her cover her mouth and let out a sob.

"What?" Aphmau said.

"She's alive" My eyes widened and I looked in the direction she was looking.

She's alive.

My heart was pounding in my chest as I started pushing through the crowd of people trying to get to her before she would disappear from my sight again somehow.

Her back was to me but I knew it was her and I could hear talking and trying to convince anyone to listen to her before more people walked away from her.

She turned around and her eyes went wide when she seen me.

"Zane!" She shrieked.

She's really alive!

I caught her and wrapped my arms tightly around her, her arms went around me and I could everyone else making their way towards us as quickly as they could.

She was sobbing quietly into my shoulder as I held her tighter and rested my head against hers just anything to make myself believe that she was truly alive.

"I thought you were dead" I whispered.

"I thought you were dead..." Nana whispered into my shoulder...she's alive and I don't have to say goodbye to her...thank irene.
