They say love is blind, and he says, "I truly lost my sight when I fell in love." But what can he do? He fell in love, and what happened, happened. Now, he sits in his room every day, writing once again:
"I am Khaled Hosni, 28 years old, a graduate of Cairo University's Faculty of Commerce six years ago. My hometown is called 'El Bahou Freq,' part of Dakahlia Governorate. Today, for the eighth time, my request to marry the woman I love has been rejected—for the same reason."
He then looked at the wall and pinned the paper next to seven others, which appeared to have been put up at earlier times.
The first paper bore his name, age, and hometown, along with the words: "Today, my request to marry the woman I love was rejected." The second read, "Rejected for the second time." The third documented the third rejection, and so on, until the seventh paper.

After that, he leaned back and looked upward as memories took him six years back to when he was in his final year at university. It was by chance that he met Mona, a girl from his hometown, on their way from the village to Cairo University. His joy grew when he learned that she was in her first year, studying at the same faculty. From that day on, their encounters became frequent—whether by chance or intention.
