She felt every word from Hadeon deeply pierce her heart. His voice carried the ease of someone who had already mastered everything around him. As if he knew exactly why she had come and was just waiting for her to speak, he raised an eyebrow.

Elysia barely managed to open her lips that wouldn’t part and asked,

“If I sincerely beg, will you grant my request?”

“Depends.”

His response was remarkably brief compared to her earnest plea.

“I tend to correct bad habits thoroughly when I do.”

With a crooked smile, Hadeon cast a cold glance at her. That gaze made Elysia’s heart feel frozen. She glared at him with hurt eyes.

It had only been a few days. Before that, she had felt a thrill and excitement from him. Though it now felt like a distant memory, there was a time she had agonized over her feelings for him.

“I don’t know what I did wrong.”

“You don’t?”

Hadeon tilted his head slightly. He rubbed his forehead with his hand.

“Isn’t it your job to figure that out? Do I even have to teach you this?”

At his indifferent words, Elysia clenched her teeth. She wanted to fiercely retort and leave the room, but doing so would mean never being able to speak about her brother’s tuition in front of Hadeon again.

You can do this. You prepared for this from the beginning. Nothing changes now.

Elysia justified herself. Maybe this was the Hadeon she had initially expected. It was just that he had been so kind, giving her unforgettable memories, making her feel like she was walking on air during her weary days, that she had momentarily lost sight of her position.

Now, Elysia felt like she was being thrown back into cold reality.

Elysia resolved to make a last desperate attempt for Celian’s sake.

“If you reject me, it’s no different from giving up the medicine for the madness.”

“Are you trying to make a deal with me now?”

“The initial contract included my blood’s ability.”

“So if I don’t do as you wish, you’ll leave?”

Elysia nodded solemnly at his question. Hadeon covered his mouth with his palm. Though unseen, it was clear he was laughing.
