The genius inventor in the underground (Arcane x reader)

Chapter 4

"Come on, y/n, this way," Ekko calls out as we take the back allies and his and duck in and out of the building because he claims it's the best way to go without running into trouble.
"This better be worth it kid" y/n calls out as they duck down to get through the hole in a building to ANOTHER PATH 'Are we just going in a circle' she mumbled to herself.
"You're a kid too you know" Ekko called out over his shoulder as he kept running on through with a smile on his face. Y/n rolled their eyes at the comment but couldn't help but smile at the thought that her attitude was rubbing off on Ekko (to Benzo's annoyance).

"Right KID, who was this other kid you wanted me to meet anyway" y/n called out to get some answers if this trip was going to be worth it. "don't worry you going to love them I mean one has to voice his comment everything but there is one I want you to meet I think you'll like her she an inventor like you." y/n gave know response choosing to wait to see for themselves what they were like and if they were worth this long trip 'oh dear god ANOTHER PATH'

 As they walked through the lanes, she couldn't help but marvel at how her town and her people persevered and what they built. She could see the inventions and how they built themselves back up even with the loss of a limb (literally).
As they walked, they got closer to their destination at the neon sign 'the last drop' was in view. "Ok Ekko, does Benzo know that you're drinking because I think I might have to rat on you" she called out with a smirk but all she got for a reply was a shake of the head as he kept moving forward.
Ekko led y/n into the building still excited about the idea of this friend's meeting his other friend/ kind of sister and no number of comments from y/n was going to put a damper on his mood. As they walked past all the tables with everyone drinking laughing or playing cards people took notice of the kids walking past but they glanced at them and said nothing and turned back as if it was a normal thing and, in the lanes, it might as well be.
"Ekko! Good to see ya lad. here to visit the other I take it?" A voice called out from behind the bar drawing the two closer. Y/n recognized that voice it was the man in charge of their world down here. You get closer to see Vander behind the bar shaking up a drink for a customer. With a smile on his face greeting Ekko. When he sees y/n he is shocked for a second before the smile is back on his face once again. "Hello again miss it's been a while...how have you been."
"Oh, you know how it is one moment you got everything the next the world seems to take it all away..." y/n realized the awkward tension she created with her remark, but when Vander shook his head letting out a chuckle. "it's good to see you got some spirit left in ya kid." he then turned to Ekko "alright Ekko you know where the others are don't let me keep you" the two kids thank him as they make their way over to the door with Ekko still leading the way. "oh and lass.. if you ever need anything... you know where to find me" Vander calls out to her before she can follow Ekko any further. y/n turns around and thinks of his words before giving a nod as their reply.

'Time to meet these so-called friends, I guess. And so-called inventor Ekko seems to like.'
