Chapter One.
Alexander's POVI see Carmie's face as she sees that i'm her seatmate. I play a smirk, and she sarcastically act. "I shan't accept this!" She said, trying to keep herself to chuckle. I laugh softly.
How could she make me laugh so easily?..
She sat beside me, "Ms. Abadino, you were almost late. New record." I said. "Oh shut up, Alexander. Don't act like you don't get late, too!" She places her stuff and puts her hair in a bun, She was moving elegantly.
Huh? What I'm I even saying...?
Ms. Dela Cruz went inside and started teaching. This is where the fun part is. Ms. Dela Cruz is a fast explainer, and whenever she writes on the whiteboard, she quickly erases it. Luckily, Carmelita writes fast, and i'm a good listener. The whole class know that they don't stand a chance between us. We are the most smartest in this grade. Carmelita is great at writing, arts, science, literature, and everything that needs writing or memorization. I'm great at math and sports. Average on others. I'm the star player on basketball, while Carmelita is the star player on volleyball. We might be perfect, but I think we still have our dark past.
And why do I even care about her? She's my academic rival.
It's recitation, and whoever answers the most questions win and gets a plus. Carmelita and I made a game, whoever lose has to buy the winner anything they want to buy. It's more on draws and ties. "What's the other name of hypodermis?" Ms. Lopez asks. I chuckle and shake my head, my blonde hair sways freely. I was half american and got genes from my father. I raised my hand and got called. "Continuous Layer." "Correct Mr. Lopez." I look at Carmelita's brown soft eyes that were in the perfect shade of brown. As my eyes were green. I mouthed. "One point." She simply rolled her eyes and mouthed back."I'll get you back." I chuckle.
"What is the structure of the epidermis?" I scratch my head. That was a long word or sentence? Carmelita raised her hand and got called. "It is made of keratinized stratified squamous epitholium. It is also made of four different cell types in five layers." "Great answer, Ms. Abadino!! 2 points." She looked at me and slightly bowed. Then mouthed. "See?" I scoff to keep my chuckle.
She would glow when she spoke words... What? I'm definitely not falling for her.
The asking went on and on, and I got 12 points and the same with Carmelita. It was the final question. "What is my full name?" I paused. What? Since when was her full name, a science question? I can't seem to answer, and I know that Carmelita won't..
"Ms. Samaria Marizano P. Dela Cruz" She answered with full confidence. Dang, she's great. "Smashing! Great job, Ms. Abadino! You won the recitation and got a plus. Well job Mr. Lopez." I smile at her, even if she was strict. She knew how to praise and make someone feel proud about themselves. Carmelita looked at me and said, "Libre mo na ako ng milktea!" (Buy me milktea now!!) She chuckled at the end. I softly smile, "Great game, Ms. Abadino."
"You did s'well too, Mr. Lopez."
