The sun had long since dipped below the horizon, casting the streets of Berlint in a golden glow from the lampposts lining the sidewalks. Loid and Y/N walked side by side, keeping a steady pace as they made their way to the Forger apartment. Anya had fallen asleep in Loid's arms leaving the two agents a rare moment to speak candidly. Y/N broke the silence first.

"You've been quiet, Twilight. What's on your mind? Rethinking your choice of 'wife' already?" Her tone was teasing, but there was a flicker of curiosity beneath it. Loid adjusted his tie, a habit she noted seemed to crop up whenever he was strategizing.

"Not at all. You're the best candidate for this mission, as unconventional as the circumstances are."

"Flattery won't get you out of answering my question," Y/N quipped, smirking.

Loid glanced at her, his sharp gaze softening slightly. "I'm thinking about Anya. She's... unique."

Y/N raised an eyebrow. "Unique how? Do I need to be worried she's secretly some kind of government experiment?"

Loid blinked, taken aback by the suggestion. "No, nothing like that. She's just... unpredictable."

Y/N chuckled. "Sounds like a typical kid to me. Messy, chaotic, and loud—oh, and let's not forget endlessly curious."

"You sound experienced," Loid remarked, tilting his head.

"Daycare mission," Y/N reminded dryly. "Nothing prepares you for chaos like twenty sticky-fingered toddlers with no sense of boundaries." She shot him a sidelong glance. "But I'm guessing there's more to this than her just being 'unpredictable.' You wouldn't bring it up otherwise."

Loid hesitated, his jaw tightening slightly. "She's... sensitive. After spending most of the day with her, I can tell she gets overwhelmed easily, especially under pressure. And for her to stay at Eden Academy, she has to succeed. It's the only way to get close to Donovan Desmond."

"Right, 'peace and stability of the world,' yada yada," Y/N said, waving her hand airily. "So, we make her a star student, and she befriends the Desmond kid. Problem solved."

"It's not that simple," Loid countered, his voice quiet but firm. "The other children at Eden have been groomed for success their entire lives. She's... behind."

Y/N clicked her tongue. "Poor kid's been thrown into the deep end, hasn't she? Guess I'll have to keep an eye on her at school."

Loid glanced at her. "You'll maintain your position as a teacher then?"
