Robin
Phoenix was everything I was not.
“Hey Phoenix, you did good.”
“Thanks, boss. You weren't so bad yourself.”
She was friendly, social and charming. And she was a wonderful assassin. The government loved her, and so did our private clientele.
The name Robin…drifted away like cheap perfume in a rainstorm, dust in the wind. And Phoenix rose.
Everyone loved her, wanted to be her, wanted to be with her.
God, I hated her.

I swirled my lollipop around in my mouth with my tongue. The brothel stood tall and towering, a blinding presence against the gloom of the rainy evening. I winked flirtatiously at passing patrons, garnering lustful glances and wolf whistles.
I sauntered into the luxurious establishment, my hips swaying, enticing onlookers as I winked at William, the receptionist, who gaped at me, and walked through a doorway sealed with ropes of beads instead of a door.
“Ashley, you've returned.” Madame Georgina said lowly, her thin lips pursed tightly. “About time too. Your client is waiting for you in Room 320. Hurry along now.” She waved her hand, dismissing me, before she left the way I entered. I heard her speaking to William and smirked, a malicious gleam entering my eyes as I strutted towards the glass elevator, pressing a manicured nail to the gold button. The doors slid open and I entered. I winked at the camera, knowing William was watching.
“C'mon Wren.” I sang. I saw the camera light flicker on and off and smirked. I bit on my lollipop, cracking the sweet as I took out my gun, hidden in the thigh strap under my short black dress. “Good boy” I purred.
William's chuckle filtered through the tiny earpiece in my ear. “Keep going and I'm reporting you to Eagle on the count of infidelity, Rob.”
I giggled, twirling the small silver pistol casually as the elevator rose slowly. “Who was the one who couldn't take his eyes off me when I walked into Eden.”
He huffed, “Oh shut up and get to work, girl.” He grumbled. “Pierre is in 320, like Georgina said. You'll have to be fast and clean. Apparently Olympus is sending an assassin too.”
I scowled as the clear doors slid open, my heels clicking against the marble floor as I walked the empty halls. “I hope to God it's not Eros.” I grumbled, “That boy is so fucking annoying.” I brushed my fingers through my straightened hair, missing the feel of my loose curls. “And what's with the government always hiring both of us? It just causes issues.”
“I don't know, man.” William hummed, “So far, I've not seen any of them in the camera feed, but then again they could've hacked it. Just like we did.”
I felt a sense of urgency “Fucking Eros.” I cursed under my breath. I slammed the door open just in time to see a tall figure bent over a whimpering Pierre. I growled and stomped forward, shoving my gun into his chest. “Back the fuck off!”
He arched an eyebrow, his eyes raking over my body in amusement. “What if I say no?”
“This is my kill” I hissed, pressing my foot hard against Pierre's crotch when he moved to escape. His double chin trembled in fear, big fat tears dripping from his cheeks. “You don't steal my kill.”
He tipped my chin up and smirked. “Watch me.” He whispered, and before I could blink, he'd shot Pierre between the eyes. I grabbed his collar and pulled him down to meet my furious gaze.
“Are you fucking mad?!” I hissed, “We needed him for questioning, you idiot!” He wrapped his fingers languidly around my wrist and lightly tugged, releasing my hold on him.
“Sweet little Robin.” He cooed, caging me against the wall, pressing my wrist above me. “I already have all the answers the government needs, so don't worry your pretty little head.”
I grit my teeth, desperation stifling. “Let go of me, Eros.” At that time, the clouds blocking the silver rays of the half moon dissipated, causing the light to filter through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The rays revealed the amused gleam in his sharp silver eyes. He gripped my other wrist when I moved to shove at him, joining it with the first in his left hand, his right hand drifting down to grip my knee. “What do you want, you brat?” I hissed.
He chuckled and brushed his nose against mine “For you to finally understand who the top assassin truly is, Little Bird. You're skilled, yes, but you take too long.”
“It always works out in the end.”
“Your way is manipulative. You make them fall in love with you, and your body.”
“And your way is too brutal.” I scoffed. William's voice sounded urgently from the ear piece and I twisted flexibly out of Eros's hold. “This is the second time you messed up my hunt. Don't think that stealing my kills will make the government treasure you more. I will always be their favorite.”
He chuckled, drawing closer so I had to tip my head up to meet those ethereal glowing eyes. “I'm counting on that.” He murmured, “That way we can keep meeting each other like this.” He winked.
I felt heat creep up my neck and frowned, ignoring him to open a window. He watched me quietly as I bent to pick up my pistol from where it had fallen on the ground. “You're gonna leave? Just like that?”
I glanced at him with an arched brow, “The cops are coming, idiot.” I deadpanned, climbing until I stood on the window sill. “Stay away from my targets and maybe we could be considered friends.” I eyed his tall figure and scoffed before jumping off.
