Robin
Just as I tugged off my leather boots, I heard the front door creak open. “Robin?” I heard Jason yell.
“Living room.” I replied, slipping off the gun holster strapped to my thigh. A few minutes later and I caught a whiff of his light scented cologne. “Hey.”
He bent over the couch to kiss my forehead. “Hey beautiful.” He murmured. I blushed slightly and lowered my head to continue my task of undressing. He watched as I took off the stacks of silver beaded bracelets decorating my arms and traced a finger down the column of my spine, drawing out a shudder from me. “Look at you.” He murmured, toying with the black lace covering my waist. “You always look so sexy after a mission.”
“It comes with the job.” I mumbled, my breath hitching when he pulled me up and over the couch and into his arms. “I'm a seductress, Jason.” He hummed, his long fingers splayed across my back.
“I wished you dressed like this for only me.” He whispered, kissing my nose “I want to be the only one to see you this way. And the only way that will happen is if you—”
“I'm not retiring.” I said firmly, my mood ruined. “I'm too far deep to leave the murky waters. You brought me into this life, and I will stay in it for as long as you will.”
“Robin—”
“Jason, we're at home. Call me by my name.”
His eyes flickered and he sighed, “Rui.” He forced through gritted teeth. “Don't do this, please. I love you and I don't want you getting hurt.”
“And I said I'll be careful.” I frowned, “Are you doubting me? I never get down and dirty with a target and you know this.” His suspicious ass has Will hacking into every camera within range of the target and me, making sure his pretty little girlfriend doesn't get attracted by a particularly attractive target or a passerby. “Or what are you afraid of?”
“You could get raped.” He said grimly.
“With Will watching the cameras? And the men you always keep waiting on standby in the shadows? Jason…”
“I saw you and Eros, Rui.” He said stiffly, his fingers tightening around my waist. “He touched you. He pressed you against the wall and touched you.” His eyes darkened to a beautiful indigo, the color violent and startling. He pressed another kiss to my nose.
“It wasn't anything sexual.” I rolled my eyes, “He was only messing with me, and preventing me from lashing out and shooting his brains out.”
“But what if he wanted to rape you?” Jason insisted, “What if he held you against that wall with the thought of taking advantage of you.”
“He won't”
“Won't he?”
“Jason, stop.”
He cupped my cheek, “You're a beautiful woman, Rui.” He murmured, “And everyone knows Eros loves beautiful women.”
I slapped his hand away, “I don't want to talk about this.” I mumbled, “Leave me alone. If you doubt my fidelity maybe we should just —”
“Don't” he pinched my chin, forcing me to meet his desperate eyes. “Don't shut me out, Robin” he breathed, saying the pseudonym like a reverent prayer, “I hate when you do, baby. I absolutely loathe it.” He peppered my cheeks and lips with apologetic kisses. “I'm sorry for upsetting you. Forgive me.” He punctuated his apology with a sweet kiss, his thumb gently stroking my sides. “Please, baby” he murmured against my lips.
I let out a soft sigh “I hate when you doubt me, Jason.” I said, pressing my head against his chest. “...help me with this dress, it's a bit too tight around my hips.”
He grinned with boyish glee. “Of course, my love.” He kissed me soundly and lifted me in his arms. I hooked my arms around his neck and buried my face in his chest as he took me to our room, comforted by his familiar warmth.
Then I caught the faint scent of lavender in that exact spot.

“That Phoenix girl is so…I don't know.” Dove pouted prettily, her brown eyes trained on her reflection in her compact mirror as she retouched her lip gloss. “I hate her.”
“What did she do?” I asked, amused, filing my nails. She flipped her blonde hair over her shoulder and sighed.
“She's been eyeing Crow!” She whined, “I've spent four whole years pining after that god-like man and she just swoops in and steals all his attention?” She scowled, “I've already laid claim. Everyone knows he's mine. Him included. He knows.”
“He's just doing his job, babe.” I consoled, patting her thigh.
“He's a lawyer, babe.” She clicked her tongue. “What does she have to do with a lawyer? Huh? Sure, he gives us our missions in Raven's stead, but she could've approached Raven for her missions!”
“Raven doesn't like her.” I said, amused. “He kind of banned her from his office ever since she accidentally dripped blood all over his premium carpet.”
“How did she do that?” Dove asked, her brows creased in worry and disgust.
“She was helping Eagle qith questioning.” I drawled, feigning casual. I felt her eyes on my face and shifted my eyes to meet them. “What?”
“I also don't like her because I feel like she's getting too close to your fiance.” She frowned, “Crow and I aren't official, but Eagle and you are. I don't have a good feeling about this…”
“Eagle won't cheat.” I said firmly. But the faint scent of lavender haunted me. “It's lunchtime. Let's go eat.”
“Nn.”
We stepped out of the ladies room arms linked and made our way to the cafeteria. We passed Crow's office on our way, just in time for the tall Spaniard to step out. “Hey Crow.” I waved.
He pinched my nose. “What's with that mischievous tone?” He frowned, taking Dove in his arms. “What did you do?”
I watched, bemused, as he stole my best friend, who looked totally enraptured with his arm wrapped possessively around her waist. “Must you always assume I did something?” I huffed, hands on my hips. “Give me my best friend back, we're going to eat.”
He curled his lip in disgust, “That disgusting slop?” He cupped Dove's cheek “There's a restaurant nearby.” He murmured gently, “It has all your favorites, I'll take you.”
“Okay.” She breathed.
I cleared my throat, arching a brow. And this girl thinks Phoenix is her competition? Please. “And me?”
He scowled, but sighed. “I guess you can come with. You're not allergic to shellfish are you?” I shook my head, “Good, because Ellie loves seafood, so that's what we're eating.” Simp.
Dove giggled softly and brushed her lips against his lightly stubbled jaw, causing him to clench it tightly. “Thank you, Javier.” She whispered. Simp.
How they're still not together is still a mystery to me.
“Can you two just not?” I groaned, tugging on my curls. “We're in public for goodness sake.” Crow glared at me and pressed a soft kiss to Dove's forehead. “God”
He stuck his tongue out at me and took Dove's hand. “Okay we're done.” He hugged my shoulders, a teasing smile lining his lips. “Shall we?”
“Finally.” I rolled my eyes.
