Love And Shadows

Chapter 1: The start of the end

Rayla-21 years old-in her room.

It was a beautyful evening in Katholis. Rayla stared out of the window at the beatiful, colourful sky. She was just waiting for the night to begin. She had a date planned for today, a moonlight date. With her boyfriend Callum. She couldn't wait, so she decided to dress up.

As soon as the moon stood high Rayla went to the place where they had agreed to meet.

When she arrived she met Callum who still was preparing things for their date. He was wearing a white skirt with a blue vest an black pants.

"Hey, Callum!" She said with a happy voice. Callum shocked.

"Eh, Rayla, i-you came early." He said.

"I did?" She asked with a shocked voice. Callum walked towards her.

"You did," He said with a teasing voice. He chuckled. "You look beatifull in your dress." He said meeting her gaze.

"You think?" Rayla asked looking at the green wide dress that she wore.

"Of course you do." Callum said. He leaned in to kiss her. "Are you hungry?" He asked, I have cooked dinner by my own. He said with pride in his voice.

"You know is already passed dinnertime?" Rayla asked with a teasing voice.

"Oh, shut up..." Callum said with a playfull voice. Than he grabbed Rayla by her hip and pulled her to the ground starting tickeling her. Rayla laughed.

"Stop, stop, stop!" She laughed.

"Not before you apologised." He said with a playfull voice.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry, please stop!" She laughed. Finally Callum stopped with tickeling.

"So, are you hungry?" He asked. Rayla nodded.

*At the castle in Katholis*

The guards are standing at their posts they where on lookout to keep the castle safe. Suddenly one of the guards disappeared. This leaves the other guards in shock. They left their posts to search for the missing guard. When all of the guards were gone, a strange shadow mannaged to sneak in to the castle.

*The date*

"So I haven't seen you for a while, how was your day?" Callum asked.

"Whell, I' ve been waiting the whole day for this date actually," She said with a grinn. "What did you do today?"

"What I do? Whell I just waited." He answered.

"Waited for what?" Rayla asked

"For this." After wich he pushed Rayla to the ground, kissed her and strailed her hair. Rayla enjoyed it. The rolled over Rayla layed on top of Callum. Their lips broke up.

"I love you." Callum said.

"I love you to Callum." Rayla answered.

After a lot of cuddeling and kissing they went to the castle. When they walked home the moon stood highest wich cauzed that Rayla turned in to her moonshadow form.

Rayla was unsure if Callum liked her like this but just at the right moment he said "You are so beatiful Rayla."It made Rayla blush.

"Thank you." She said.

When they arrived at the castle the saw panicked people walking around. Ezran saw Callum and Rayla arriving and he walked towards them with a chaotic apperance.

"Ez, what is going on?" Callum asked in shock.

"One of the guards went missing." Ezran awnsered with a worried voice.

"How?" Rayla asked.

"We don't know, first he was at his post, and then he was just gone, no one saw him leaving." Ezran said. He talked fast.

One of the guards came to Ezran.

"King, we have found the guard, but..." the guard stopped his sentence.

"But what?" Ezran asked.

"He is dead." The guard said with fear in his voice.

That night whole Katholis was left in shock.

* The next day *

When Callum opened his eyes he noticed Rayla sitting in his room.

"Good morning Rayla," Callum said with a very sleepy voice. Then he saw that Rayla was crying. "What's wrong?" He asked as he shoot up in the bed to see if Rayla was okay.

"N-nothing." Rayla said while she quickly dried her tears.

"No, there is not nothing Rayla, otherwise you weren't crying." Callum said with a frustrated voice.

Rayla stood up and showed Callum a wound on her arm.

"What happened?" Callum asked.

Rayla her tears started rolling down her cheeks again. "A figure came in my dream, i cant remember what hapened next, but i do know that it was horrifying." Rayla said as she sobbed through her tears.

"Come here." Callum said as he reached out his hand. Rayla came to Callum, and he pulled Rayla close to his chest. The morning sun shone through the window, right on Rayla's face. Callum layed his arm behind her back, but Rayla suddenly screamed "Auch!"

"What's wrong?" Callum asked.

"M-my back hurts." Rayla stuttered.

"Can i see your back?" Callum asked. Rayla allowed Callum to lift her shirt halfway up to see what is going on.

Callum saw the problem immediately is was a bruise." How long did you slept anyways?" Callum asked trying to make Rayla feel more comfortable.

"About two hours." She said.

"Whell...i guess you'll have to sleep in my bed than." Callum said.

"Will you stay with me?" Rayla whispered. Callum nodded. He layed Rayla in his bed, pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead and stayed with her till she fell asleep.

* Rayla's dream *

Darkness... a cold wind blows across her cheeks, suddenly that cold wind is gone. She cant breathe. Her whole body is cold, and she can't move. She opens her eyes but it is dark. She only sees a black-brown colour, as if she was under water. She tries to breathe again, but this thime she gets water in her mouth. She can only cough. She is drowning. Gladly she can move her body again, and she takes the opportunity to swim to the top of the water untill she can breathe again. She sees a rock and swims towards it to climb up on it and catch her breath again.

Suddenly she hears a whisper that gives her chills. "Want to hear a secret Rayla?" A deep voice said. "Your boyfriend won't be here for you annymore because i am going to kill him." The voice said with a laugh. Rayla almost fainted with this thought.

"Callum won't die aslong as he has me!" Rayla screamed trying to not let fear creep into her voice. As soon as she said that she felt a cold hand grabbing her neck so thightly that she couldn't even swallow. She tried to scream, but she couldn't.
