"I'm full," Virat said, as Rohit offered him another bite. Rohit noticed that Virat hadn't eaten much- just a little more than half the plate. He wondered if the food wasn't as good as Virat expected, or maybe it wasn't made the way he liked it.
"Why? It's not good, I'm sorry, Virat-I just don't know how to cook," Rohit didn't even realize he had started apologizing.
"No, it's not that-I'm just full. I can't eat more than this," Virat said, not wanting Rohit to feel bad because of his small appetite.
Rohit didn't know why he felt sad about it; he just put the spoon back on the plate and started eating his own lunch.
Virat noticed his expression, but he couldn't do anything about it because he had less appetite since he shifted to his new diet and protein plan. It was really hard for him to keep normal food down. Here, they didn't have all that, and physical activities like going to the gym were also not possible.
Once Rohit was done, he wrapped up everything and kept the dishes in the sink to clean it later.
"Any idea when we would get that phone service to make calls to India?", asked Virat out of nowhere gaining Rohit's attention who was cleaning kitchen slab.
Rohit noticed Virat hadn't left his chair till he finished his food and kitchen cleaning activities, was he giving him company or something? He was confused.
"No not yet, you can use the cottage phone though", Rohit said as Virat looked a little desperate to call someone.
Virat fidgeted with his fingers, thinking about something. "What is it? You can tell me, I'll help you," Rohit said softly.
"My phone broke, and I don't have any numbers saved," Virat said in a low voice.
His phone broke, when? Did he atleast call his family to inform and check on them? What if his family was worried about him?
"Oh, that's a problem, as I don't have any of your family's numbers," Rohit said, thinking about what they could do.
"No, not-" Virat started, but stopped mid-sentence. He didn't know what Rohit would think if he said he didn't want to call his family, but someone else. Rohit might think he was heartless or cold, which he probably already did. But did it really make a difference what Rohit thought now?
It does, a feeling in his heart said-- the time Rohit touched his hand, everything was just different and calm around him so may be what Rohit thought about him did make a difference.
"No? Do you want to call someone else?", Rohit asked softly seeing Virat getting silent and in his thought. Virat did not reply still thinking about what Rohit will think.
Rohit stepped a little closer so that Virat would look at him, he noticed fear and doubt in Virat's eyes. He slowly kept his hand on Virat's other hand just a feather touch, "Virat, I promise-- I will never judge you. You can share with me, who do u want to call?", he asked softly.
Virat saw genuine care and concern in Rohit's eyes, the soft touch which was not painful like others-- it was warm which Virat had not felt in a long time.
"Hey?", Rohit called softly seeing him zoning out.
Virat averted his gaze from Rohit's, "I wanted to call Zak Pa and Rahul bhai if you have their numbers", he said in a low voice.
"Yes I have them wait", Rohit said, there was little excitement in his voice as he finally would be able to help Virat.
Rohit got his phone from the room and dialled Zak Pa's number first, he noticed Virat waiting for the response.
