Idalia's body buzzed with excitement. Or was it from the green tea shots? Whichever the case, she was having a good time. The bass in Club Sole was heavy, the floor vibrating with each beat the DJ played. The crowd was full, tons of sweaty bodies dancing and grinding against one another. She quite enjoyed clubbing; the way everyone danced and was comfortable in their own element. She wanted to dance. Just then, the DJ mixed a familiar beat. Too familiar.
Idalia gasped and locked eyes with Anais who was already staring at her. This was their song! The same song that revealed to both girls years ago that they were meant to be friends. Louise raised a brow, watching the two with a grin.
"Go on, I'll watch our drinks." Louise laughed, leaning over to place a quick kiss to Anais' forehead. Idalia and Anais whooped and made their way to the dance floor as the lyrics to "The Way I Are" by Timbaland began. Their hips and arms swayed as they gyrated to the music, something Idalia in her sober state would never do. Her hands ran down and back up her body as she mouthed the words, Anais cheering and screaming at the seductive dance move.Baby if you strip, you can get a tip
'Cause I like you just the way you are
I'm about to strip and I'm well-equipped
Can you handle me the way I are?Idalia grabbed her friend's hand and spun her in a circle, cheering equally as loud as Anais danced. The two were definitely a sight to see, there was no doubt they were having fun when they both began to pop and lock. Terribly, of course. But who cared? Not them.
As the song neared its end, the giddy women headed back to Louise, who watched her wife with a smile. She wasn't much of a dancer but she loved watching Anais have fun with her friend.
Idalia and Anais were still laughing by the time they reached the table. Idalia grabbed her beverage and took a healthy sip, ignoring the burning sensation as it traveled down her throat. "We killed that." She said, nodding her head as she turned to watch the other partygoers. She swayed in her chair, humming along to the next song with a smile until someone caught her eye.
Her smile suddenly dropped as a knot grew in her throat. Over the heads of the drunken clubbers, she spotted a familiar face; she recognized the locs. Jonas. And he wasn't alone.
His arms were wrapped around a woman. Her long, neat braids sat on her shoulder as Jonas buried his face in the crook of her neck, she smiled and turned around. The woman wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her lips against his. Idalia's heart sank.
So that's why he didn't respond..She couldn't take her eyes away as she watched them, her stomach in knots. Anais, sensing a change in the vibe, looked over at Idalia. "Hey, you okay?" She asked softly, answering her own question as she followed Idalia's line of sight. Her face soured instantly and she grabbed her friend by the hand, tugging her over to the bar.
"Four vodka shots, please!" Anais loudly ordered and slammed her card down on the bar counter. "Fuck him. We're getting you drunk."
Idalia had no qualms with that. She wanted to forget this, how embarrassed and stupid she must look. Once the shots were ready, Anais grabbed her's and pushed the other two towards Idalia, motioning for her to pick one up. They clanked the shot glasses together, slammed them on the bar, and threw them back quickly. Idalia didn't even feel the alcohol go down this time.Idalia was definitely not sober when Anais and Louise dragged her back to the dance floor. Her head was buzzing, and the multicolored lights refracted in her vision. She could hardly see enough as it was due to the club's red lights, but now she was thoroughly intoxicated. However, Idalia didn't mind; she didn't want to see and she trusted her friends to not let anything happen. Once they made it through the crowd of bodies, she somehow realized that they were only a few people away from Jonas and his date.
Feeling unlike herself, she stared daggers into the side of Jonas' face. She wanted him to see her, to know that she knows. That he fucked up. She lightly swayed her hips, arms hanging loosely at her sides. As if sensing someone staring at him, Jonas turned his head and locked eyes with Idalia, his eyes widening almost cartoonishly as he recognized the woman and her friends.
That's right, I caught your ass.
