(May 27, 2006) - two and a half weeks later

The sun hung lazily in the clear sky as Aurora, Vanessa, and Gabriel arrived at the lake just outside Forks.

It was a perfect day to escape from everything—school, responsibilities, and especially the supernatural mysteries that hovered over their small town.

Aurora stepped out of Gabriel's car, shielding her eyes from the sunlight. "This place is gorgeous," she said, taking in the scene.

"Perfect for a relaxing day," Vanessa agreed, slinging her bag over her shoulder. "We deserve this after the week we've had."

Gabriel grinned as he grabbed a cooler from the trunk. "You mean after I drove you around to all those weird bookstores for your Cold Ones research?"

"Hey, you're the one who agreed to it," Vanessa shot back playfully.

Aurora chuckled as they walked toward the water's edge. But just as they rounded the bend leading to the lake, Aurora froze.

Sitting on a large rock near the shore was Finn, his tall frame silhouetted against the glimmering water.

"Is that... Finn Clearwater?" Vanessa asked, her voice mixed with curiosity and a hint of hesitation.

Gabriel squinted. "Yup. What's he doing out here alone?"

Aurora's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't expected to see him today, let alone here. "He's probably just enjoying the quiet lake." she said quickly.

Vanessa crossed her arms. "Well, should we say hi or just mind our own business?"

Gabriel shrugged. "Up to you guys. He seems like the type who'd rather be left alone."

But Aurora stepped forward. "No, he's... he's nice. Let's talk to him. He's not standoffish as he seems."

Vanessa raised an eyebrow but followed Aurora's lead. As they approached, Finn turned his head, his eyes locking onto them.

"Hey," Aurora called out, her voice softer than she intended. "Didn't expect to see you here."

Finn gave a small nod. "It's a good spot to get some peace and quiet." His gaze flickered over the trio, lingering on Aurora for a moment longer than the others.

Vanessa shifted awkwardly. "Well, we were planning to swim and hang out. You're welcome to join us, if you want."

Finn hesitated, his expression unreadable. Then, to everyone's surprise, he nodded. "Sure. Why not?"

The group moved to a area to change. Aurora emerged in a simple yet stunning black tube top and black shorts that hugged her hourglass figure perfectly.

Gabriel, already holding a towel, nearly dropped it.

"Uh..." he stammered, quickly looking away, his face turning bright red.
