I didn't tell Riki or Taehun where the party was and I turned off my location. I was not dealing with them tonight. I didn't need a repeat of the club.
I lost Sunoo to some girl about half an hour in and I didn't see Jay. I spotted Jake with some girl and thought it best not to approach them. It seemed I might have to find a new hookup for this year.
I couldn't help but compare every guy that I saw to the wolves. I knew the green wolf was in my life somehow and I wanted to figure out who he was, so I can ask what he was apologizing for. Or better yet, why he hadn't been back.
"Mina," Jay tapped my shoulder as I was scanning the room, making me jump, almost spilling the drink in my hand. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
"Oh, hey, Jay."
"Are you having a good time?"
"Sure." I nodded, smiling.
"Your brother and his friend aren't here?"
"I didn't tell them where it was." I admitted, laughing.
"Mina, listen, there is something I should tell..."
"Jay!" Jake clamped a hand on Jay's shoulder, him and Sunghoon appearing on either side of him. Where had the girl Jake had been talking to gone?
"Jake." I looked at him. This is weird. I haven't seen Jake since the start of the semester. How did he know Jay? And he's hanging out with my neighbor now?
"Hey, Mina. Long time no see." He smiled at me.
"You two know each other?" I motioned between him and Jay.
"Yeah, we go way back." Jake nodded. Jay looked a little nervous and I wondered what that was about. And what was he about to tell me before they showed up? "They need your help in the kitchen, Jay."
"Yeah, okay." Jay nodded and then looked at me. "I will catch up with you later."
"That was weird." I said as Jay and Jake walked off, Jake still had a death grip on his shoulder.
"You shouldn't be hanging out with him." Sunghoon replied. I hadn't even realized he was still standing with me.
"I don't hang out with Jake much anymore." I said. "Seems you hang out more with him than I do."
"I meant Jay."
"He's my lab partner." Not that Sunghoon needed to know that.
"And that's all he needs to be."
"You have no say in who I hang out with. Why are you even talking to me right now?"
"That's a good question." He said, rolling his eyes and walking off. What a jerk.
I scanned the crowd again, looking for anyone that might be suitable for entertainment. I wished I had told my other friends about this. After giving up, I head to find the bathroom.
"Of course there is a line." I sighed, folding my arms, leaning against the wall. I saw Sunoo pass by once, him giving me a small wave and mouthing if I am ok. I nodded. He was having a good time, no need for me to spoil it.
"There is a bathroom upstairs." A voice said next to me.
A tall shadow was cast over me, instantly yanking my mind back to last night and the black wolf. My heart raced as I took a step back, my gaze snapping to the figure in front of me. It was my TA, Heeseung, standing there with a startled expression.
"I didn't mean to startle you."
"You didn't." I cleared my throat, straightening out my top, taking another step away from him. "Sorry."
"Do you want to use the other bathroom?" He asked, looking genuine.
"I..." Did I want to go upstairs with my hot TA? Any other time I would have said of course. But right now all I can see is the black wolf, even though that was crazy. And after last night, if there is one thing I am afraid of, it's the black wolf.
"Are you all right?"
"I'm fine." I shake it off, knowing I am being ridiculous. Though it made sense. He would be old enough to be in The Crimson Cloaks and putting him as a TA in one of my classes gives him access. Could he really be the black wolf? Was he here to harm me? What had I done to him to make him that upset?
"It's no trouble..." Heeseung took a step closer, reaching for me, making me recoil.
"She said she was fine." Riki stepped in-between us. I looked up at him as he looked between Heeseung and I. "Why do you look terrified? Did he try something?"
"I didn't." Heeseung shook his head. "I was trying to help."
"You are pale." Riki tilted my head up to look at him, before looking back to Heeseung. "What the hell did you do to her?"
"He didn't do anything." I grabbed Riki's arm, pulling him back. "I mistook him for someone else."
"I'm really sorry, Miss Park." Heeseung said before backing away. "I will see you in class."
Riki watched him leave before taking my arm, pulling me out of the line to the bathroom.
"Riki! I need..."
"You can use the bathroom upstairs. He just said there was one." He said, moving the rope that was meant to block people from going upstairs.
We found the bathroom and he motioned for me to go.
"I will be right here." He said, leaning against the wall.
"Why are you here anyway?"
"We will talk later, but didn't you have to pee?"
My bladder twists, reminding me he was correct. I hurried into the bathroom and did my business, washing my hands before going back out. Riki leaned against the wall, looking at his phone, a stern look on his face.
"You didn't have to wait."
"I'm not leaving your side." Riki narrowed his eyes. "Seems when I do, random guys appear."
"Don't be ridiculous."
"Want to tell me why you looked so afraid of that TA?" Riki blocked my way to the steps.
"I told you, I mistook him for someone else."
"Who?" Riki pushed on. "Who has you in that much fear?"
"Nobody..."
"Is it the reason you have this bruise?" Riki grabbed my arm, turning it over to show the bruise I got last night in the mirror maze when the black wolf chased me.
"In a way..."
"I'll have to keep a better eye on you." Riki said as he knelt down, placing his lips over the bruise in a gentle kiss. My breath catches in my throat, as I was not expecting that.
"Riki, you are younger than I am."
"Doesn't mean I can't protect you." He used the arm in his grip to pull me to him. "Let's get out of here."
"Are you not here with my brother?"
"No. Taehun is at another friend's tonight." He said.
"You stalked me alone this time, then?"
"Something like that." Riki shrugged. "Come on, let me take you home."
"Fine." I sighed. "I wasn't enjoying this party anyway."
