The infinite green mist of the Ghost Zone swirled like a restless storm, casting an eerie glow across (Y/N)'s exhausted form. Her knees ached against the cold, rocky terrain of a floating island. She gripped her sides, her breaths labored as she leaned against a jagged boulder. Every corner of this dimension seemed both familiar and alien.
It had been hours—days, maybe—since she had escaped the heroes' world. The rush of fleeing through the portal had left her disoriented, and now the vast emptiness of the Ghost Zone was beginning to chip away at her resolve.
"Danny," she whispered to herself, clinging to his name as a lifeline. She had come so far. She just needed to find her way to him.
The stillness of the zone was suddenly broken by a deep rumble, the island quaking beneath her feet. (Y/N) stumbled, clutching the rock for balance as a massive ghostly serpent emerged from the mist, its translucent body coiling through the air like a deadly ribbon.
It locked its glowing eyes on her, hissing with an unsettling resonance.
(Y/N)'s heart raced. She was defenseless—no weapons, no thermos, and no powers. Her time among heroes had trained her to stay calm in dangerous situations, but this was entirely different.
Backing away slowly, she kept her voice steady. "Easy... I'm not here to fight."
The serpent lunged, its maw opening wide, revealing rows of sharp spectral teeth.
Before it could strike, a blast of glowing green energy tore through the air, slamming into the creature's side. The serpent screeched, recoiling as more blasts followed, forcing it to retreat into the swirling mist.
(Y/N) turned, her heart leaping in her chest.
"(Y/N)!"
Danny hovered just above the ground, his white hair glowing against the green backdrop of the Ghost Zone. His eyes burned with determination, his hands still crackling with ectoplasmic energy.
"Danny!" (Y/N)'s voice broke as she sprinted toward him.
He caught her in a tight embrace, his arms wrapping around her like a shield. For the first time in what felt like forever, she felt safe.
"I've got you," Danny murmured, his voice steady but filled with relief. "I've got you."
Danny guided (Y/N) onto the floating island, setting her down gently. His eyes scanned her for injuries, his hands brushing over her arms and shoulders as if to reassure himself that she was really there.
"Are you okay? Did anyone hurt you?" he asked, his tone frantic.
(Y/N) nodded, her hands gripping his jacket tightly. "I'm fine. Just tired... and maybe a little scared out of my mind."
Danny smirked despite himself, his worry momentarily easing. "You're allowed to be scared. The Ghost Zone's not exactly the friendliest place."
He helped her sit, conjuring a small, warm orb of energy to light the immediate area.
"How did you find me?" she asked, her voice soft.
Danny sat beside her, his gaze distant. "Clockwork. He said something was wrong with the balance of the realms. When I pushed him for answers, he finally admitted you'd ended up here again."
"Again?" (Y/N) blinked, confused.
Danny hesitated, then sighed. "It's a long story. Let's just say the Infinite Realms have been acting weird ever since you... got pulled into that other world."
The mention of her time in the DC universe sent a pang through (Y/N)'s chest. She thought of the friends she'd made there, their protectiveness, and the weight of their attachment.
