He searched for the one who could see beyond,
the gentle heart he had yet to bond,
a soul to match his yearning flame,
to embrace his love and feel the same.
Eventually finding her, the one he chose,
he thought she'd understand the life he knows.

He poured his love, his heart laid bare,
in every hug, in every stare,
But she turned away, her eyes like stone,
left him feeling more alone.
She called him weak for the tears he'd shed,
For the words of love that he had said,
rejected the arms that reached for more,
left him broken, bruised, so sore.

He once had sworn as a boy so sweet,
to never abandon, never retreat,
but the woman he loved had turned him cold,
and left him lost, a heart grown old.
So he closed himself, locked every door,
the boy who loved was no more,
a shell of the child who once believed,
in a world where love could be achieved.
