The sky was slowly changing its colours from black to blue. The night was turning into a day. It was early morning when Holland reached a scene. The birds were chirping like a morning song as an indication that a beautiful morning had started as people were comfortably sleeping in their beds.
Holland slowly with steady steps walked inside the railway tunnel which was the crime scene. It was jet black inside the tunnels, but sidelights were giving enough light for Holland to investigate the scene. The dead body and everything which could be used as evidence had already been taken from the scene as it was a Railway track so they couldn't close it for a prolonged period. Perhaps that was a reason why he always chose tunnels to commit his merciless crimes.
Holland cautiously walked inside the tunnel while analysing the crime scene. There was not much left on the scene which could be used as a lead to get even a tiny bit of information regarding the murderer. Holland felt frustrated... the same frustration he felt while dealing with his crimes three years ago. It was an exact disappointment and annoyance of not finding anything which could lead them towards the killer. That same irritation Holland felt after three years told him it was the same guy.
He was the only one Holland had ever seen in his police career to execute a perfect crime. As a detective, Holland firmly believed that there was no perfect crime, but this case was different. It was beyond perfection or possibly Holland was missing out on something. The crime was flawless and well prepared as if he practiced it advanced in months. Not a single piece of evidence was left behind. As much Holland had felt hate and loather towards the killer, he was unable to refrain from admiring his perfection.
Holland vigilantly moved around looking everywhere in the hope of finding something when suddenly he felt a presence behind him. Holland froze on his spot as his senses were on guard. He could feel someone's deep gaze piercing through him. He stood still for a few seconds then abruptly turned over. A guy a little far away was standing next to the wall, hiding in the shadow of darkness started running upon releasing that Holland had seen him. Holland quickly followed him. They were running on the railway track as a chase game began.
Holland was fit enough to run with a speed unlike the person in front of him who was not in a good shape to run fast. They only had run a few minutes when Holland managed to grab the person from behind throwing him down on a railway track. Holland gripped him hard by his collar as he got on top of him and came face to face with a young man with brown hair and a petite body. The man was heavily breathing underneath Holland.
'Don't do anything to me. I did not do anything. I did not kill her.' He cried out panicking and Holland stared at him carefully. He did not look like someone capable enough to kill anyway...He was too fragile and with his eyes, it seemed like he was a drug addict...Not someone Holland pictured to be able to commit a perfect crime.
'Then why did you run off?' Holland yelled
'I got scared. ' The man replied fearfully
'What were you doing here? Why were you scared?' Holland asked another question while the man was still under him.
'I always come here to drink in a night to escape. Last night I did the same but when I came, I saw someone leaving. As he walked out, I moved closer and saw a dead body lying on the railway track. I got scared and quickly ran off that he might see me, or the police would suspect me. Now I came back to check. I swear I did not kill anyway. ' The man begged in his defence while Holland stared at him intensely and then slowly moved away from him standing back up. They both stood up in front of each other.
'Tell me what you saw. The guy who left did you see his face?' Holland interrogated the man in the hope of finding some new information regarding the killer. This man was a witness to a crime committed by a terrifying serial killer.
