Holland was working at his desk when Anna Smith marched towards him stopping in front of him. His fingers stopped working as his eyes looked up meeting her narrowed eyes.

'Are you sure you wanted to go and meet him personally? I can send Ryan on behalf of your place.' Anna asked worried.

'Yes, I am sure. And what is wrong with me anyway?' Holland asked back casually.

'What do you mean what is wrong with you? Holland, you were in the hospital, and you came back instead of resting for a few days. You already have enough on your plate, and you should take it slow. You need to take care of yourself first.' Anna said softly concerned and on Anna's care, Holland smiled. They all were like a family here and that was something Holland loved about his workplace.

Yesterday when he went to a crime scene, he recalled getting hit by someone on his head and then he remembered nothing else. His brain recollects no memories of how he came out of the tunnel or how he reached a hospital. All he knew was that he was fine and not much damage happened to his head due to the hit, but his biggest regret was the loss of witness he found. However, he remembered his description, so he was hopeful to find him soon not sure whether it would be alive or dead.

'I know we have a new probably the serial killer ongoing case but that does not mean I am going to leave my other cases. Thomas and Val's case came before so I wanted to solve that case under any circumstances.  Don't worry chief. I am fine.' Holland said as he tried to reassure whereas, on Holland's stubbornness, Anna just shook away his head and walked out.

Holland looked at the case file one more time then stood up on his chair. He wore his jacket and looked up towards Poppy who was already waiting for Holland to conclude his work. On his gaze, she understood his sign and also stood up from her chair. Poppy was the case assistant for most of Holland's cases, so she was going with him today again to meet Thomas. They both silently came out.

As they came out from the main door, they walked towards the car and sat inside. Holland started the car as their journey started. Poppy was mostly looking out of the window while she gazed a few times towards Holland who was driving the car.

'Are you still worried about not remembering any memories of yesterday?' Poppy asked as she started the conversation.

'Yes, that person could be a killer and I also lost our only witness.' Holland replied troubled.

'But it was not your fault Holland. Stop blaming yourself.' Poppy said as an insurance to make Holland feel better.

'No, it was my fault. How can I lower my guard when dealing with someone I know is clever and smart? It is indeed my fault.' Holland said as he felt frustrated and annoyed with himself. Poppy sighed and started looking out of the window again. It was useless to talk to him. She decided to give him some space. Holland was obsessed with this case for the past three years. It was his life mission to catch that serial killer. Poppy had no idea why this case meant so much to him.

The rest of the journey was quiet when the car stopped in front of Thomas' huge house. It was not a house but a mansion. Poppy felt the seed of jealousy bud inside her. They were ordinary police detectives with weekly average wages. So, whenever Poppy meets rich people during case investigations, she always feels a little envy growing inside her, but that does not mean she hates her job.

She loves working as a detective but sometimes she wishes to be rich. She wanted to be treated like a queen. She also wants to wear expensive clothes, stay at five-star hotels, eat overpriced food, and spend money like a crazy bitch. Poppy thought as she looked towards Holland who had a completely different expression compared to Poppy.
