Julie and the Phantoms

Chapter 1 : Figuring Things Out

        The four teenagers squeeze each other tighly.
       "I feel... Stronger, alive again. ", Reggie squeezed out, as Alex slightly dug his nails into everyone, hugging them to hard.
        "I know, " Julie sniffled
         The group let go of each other and giggled, Luke was the last to let go of Julie and the rest of the group. (Especially Julie) Julie wiped her tears from her cheek.
         "I love you guys, ", Julie said wipeing her sweaty palms on the front side of her shirt.
          " I love you too,", Luke said under his breath but loud enough for Reggie and Alex to hear.
          "I love you guys too! “ Luke said loud enough for everyone to hear, choking on his words a bit.
          Julie laughed, wiping her tears once again.
          Alex and Reggie gave each other a look.
          The garage door opened a bit and a familer voice came loud whispering through the small crack.
           "Alex...Alex... Alex!.. "
          " Who is that?" Julie turned around and opened the garage door.
          Willie stood up straight and rubbed his neck, holding his skate board in his left hand.
          "This must be Julie!" Willie said in a nervous voice not knowing everyone would be there.
          "Looking for Alex?" Reggie whistled.
           Luke hit Reggie in the chest lightly, implying him to shut up.
           "Actually yeah, He was.", Alex said flustered, " let's go! ", He said grabbing willes hand and walking out of the garage then poofed away.
           "Then there were three," Reggie said ploping down on the couch.
           "Speaking of that, Luke I needa talk to you." Julie said looking down fidgeting with her fingers.
           "Cool, what are we talking about?" Reggie said crossing his legs and placeing his hands on his lap.
           "Alone, Reginald." Julie smiled at Reggies oblivious actions.
           "Fine, I guess I'll be alone.", Reggie stood up and poofed out annoyed.
           Julie laughed under her breath. Looking back down at the floor. Luke, walking closer to Julie, grabbed her hand that was fidgeting slightly.
           "Wassup?“ Luke said in his chirpy happy voice.
            "Uh.. Well" Julie said still looking down.
            Luke took his other hand and made Julie look up at him.
            "Why are you fidgeting? Don't only stressed people do that or when people are uncomfortable around someone?..“, Luke said in the same voice he was in a few moments earlier, "My mom told me that.. "
            "It-", Julie choked, "It started when your guys, jolt things started getting.. Worse.. "
            "Why didn't you tell me, or the guys?", Luke said now in a slight concerned voice.
             " I did, I told Alex and Reggie.. "
              Luke took a  breath, "Why not me? "
             "Alex didn't want you to worry," Julie stammered, "I... Didn't want you to worry. "
            Luke loosened the grip on Julie's hand, and let go. He thought about Caleb and the guys talking about crossing over. He couldn't imagine crossing over without Julie.
            "What did you need right talk to me 'bout?." Luke said in a voice still sounding a slight concerned.
             "You remember that 10 minutes or so after I gave your mom.. The song to Unsaid Emily?. " Julie said, holding back tears, knowing how Luke felt about his mom.
             Luke noticed Julie's feelings and felt a shiver of guilt go down his spine. Luke leaned in and hugged Julie. She wasn't prepared for a hug and hesitated for a moment then wrapped her arms around his neck and sobbed into his sleeveless leather jacket. They stood there for a moment until Luke noticed Julie stopped crying and was just breathing, Luke still didn't let go.
                 Julie continued talking still holding onto Luke, scared if she let go she wouldn't be able to feel him ever again.
                 "You said, it's a funny relationship we have, what is, that funny relationship.?."
                 "Uh, I guess friends,", luke said holding Julie tigher, than letting go. After a moment Julie let go too.
                Luke ran his fingers through his hair and swallowed.
                "I do feel sorry for going behind your back, about your mom." Julie said looking up at Luke, wipeing her palms on her shirt.
                "It's...it's fine my mom and pa appreciated it, and so did-" Luke was about to continue his sentence until Alex appeared, flustered and hair messed up a bit.
                 Julie and Luke gave each other a look and laughed.
              "So, what did you and Wille do?" Reggie said Apearing behind Alex, with new sunglasses on.
               "Long story! " Alex said smileing widely.
                "Sounds interesting, but I think I'll get to bed, it's getting late, don't. Go anywhere." Julie said in a jokeingly serious voice.
                  She looked at Luke and smiled as she walked out of the garage, headed towards her room.
                 Reggie and Alex gave each other the same look as before and laughed

                  Julie sat on her bed starring at the Sunset Curve shirt in for the of her. She looked at the shirt then at the window towards the garage, then back at the shirt. She thought for a moment then put on the shirt. For some reason it reminded of her hugging Luke a few moments earlier. She layed down and covered herself in the fuzzy blanket and eventually fell asleep.
