Days went by, and Daya never regained consciousness in the ICU. Shreya and her daughter had planned to visit Daya's home to collect a few of his personal belongings. Abhijeet and Tarika accompanied her. When they reached the house, the strong music emanating from within appeared to make a comeback. Shreya was hesitant; she pushed the door open slowly. As soon as they entered, they froze. In Daya's living room, was a woman in her early twenties dancing to music to the shirt and a pair of shorts from Daya. Her careless movement was the last thing Shreya expected."Agni?" Abhijeet called out immediately having recognized the woman.Agni turned around with a wide smile, completely unfazed. "Jiju! You're here!" she exclaimed as she skipped over to him, wrapping him in a tight hug.Tarika stepped into the house, her arms crossed and her face tight with frustration. "You're back early, Agni," she said, her tone cool and distant.Agni grinned. "The mission wrapped up faster than I thought! I was expecting to be back in a month, but here I am!"Shreya, still in shock, could hardly process the situation. She watched as this young woman stood casually in Daya's house, not showing even an ounce of hesitation. "Who. who are you?" Shreya asked her voice mixed with curiosity and suspicion.Agni flashed her a cheeky smile, clearly enjoying the inquisition. "Oh, right. I'm Agni, Sub-Inspector Agni, CID. And I've been on a mission for the past two months."Shreya blinked, trying to comprehend what was happening. "Okay. but who are you to Daya?" Her voice trailed off as she realises there is something fishy going on here. The way Agni acted, familiarity with the house and clothes - absolutely does not add up.Tarika, who till now had been silent, let out a sigh. "Agni is in the CID. She has been working on an undercover assignment."Agni's smile faltered for a moment before she returned her attention to Shreya, still carefree. "And, uh, I guess you could say I'm like. family to Daya."Shreya's confusion deepened. "Family? How do you mean? You're too young to be his sister, or—Let's leave it at that for now," Agni interrupted quickly, not letting Shreya complete her sentence. But as Shreya cast a look around, something didn't seem right. She had known Daya for years and yet this young woman seemed to have full access to his house, to his belongings as if it belonged. It really unsettled her.
