The classroom hummed softly with the usual pre-lesson energy as students chatted and prepared for the day.

Y/N sat at her desk, diligently reviewing notes when a soft yet deep voice called her name. She turned to see Shoto Todoroki, his mismatched eyes intently focused on her.

It was unusual for him to initiate conversations, which immediately caught her off guard.

“Shoto?” she asked, tilting her head curiously.

“Can you help me with something?” he asked, his tone calm but almost hesitant.

This only added to her surprise. Shoto Todoroki, one of the top students in Class 1-A, asking her for help? “You... need my help?” she repeated, the disbelief evident in her voice.

He nodded, his gaze unwavering. “I’m struggling with English,” he admitted plainly. “I’m... not as good with it as other subjects.”

'Is he seriously asking help from the dumbest person in this class?'

She then take a quick glance at his book.

'English?'

'Well, good for him. I am good at English.....I think'

"Of course! What do you need help with?”

Shoto pulled his chair closer to her desk, the scraping sound causing a few heads in the classroom to turn their way. Ignoring the stares, he placed his English workbook on her desk. “It’s about conditional sentences. I’m having trouble with the third conditional.”

'BINGO!' Y/n thought.

Y/N smiled, flipping through the pages. “The third conditional? That’s a tricky one. It’s used to talk about hypothetical situations in the past—things that didn’t happen but could have if conditions were different.” She began explaining, her voice clear and patient as she broke down the complex rules of the tense.

Shoto leaned closer, his focus completely locked on her. His usually stoic expression softened as he watched her speak. It wasn’t the explanation he was focused on—it was her. The way her lips formed each word, the slight furrow in her brow as she searched for the right examples, the gentle confidence in her voice.

As Y/N continued, a stray strand of her hair fell across her face. She didn’t seem to notice, too engrossed in explaining the nuances of the conditional, but Shoto noticed immediately. Without thinking, he reached out, his fingers brushing lightly against her cheek as he tucked the strand behind her ear.

The unexpected gesture made Y/N freeze mid-sentence, her eyes wide as she turned to look at him. “Sh-Shoto…” she stammered, her cheeks heating up. His hand lingered for just a moment longer than necessary before he pulled away, his expression unreadable.

“You can continue,” he said softly, as if nothing had happened.

Before the tension between them could escalate further, the door to the classroom slid open with a distinct shunk. Aizawa-sensei stepped in, his sharp eyes immediately landing on the pair.

“Todoroki,” Aizawa’s voice was firm, cutting through the classroom noise like a blade. “This isn’t the time to mess around. Go back to your seat.”

Shoto didn’t argue, though a flicker of irritation crossed his face. He nodded, rising from Y/N’s desk, but not before casting one last glance at her, his expression unreadable.
