SCARLETT'S EYES WERE FOCUSED on the camera in front of her and her friend. she sat in front of the camera with her best friend madi, answering questions for her youtube video. it was normal for them to do videos like this, answering questions their subscribers had sent in about them.

the questions this time seemed pretty standard so far, most of them being about school, family, makeup advice, or random questions. however, madi suddenly asked a question that made scarlett freeze.

"okay here's one for scar, 'why'd you and matt break up?'" madi read off her list of questions she had on her phone, her eyes focused on the camera. when she finished reading the question, she looked to scarlett.

scarlett's mind went blank. they've gotten tons of questions about her relationship with matt, but this question felt different. she didn't expect it to be asked. her chest felt tight as a pit grew in her stomach from the thought of talking about matt.

scarlett's shoulders tensed up, the pit growing in her stomach made her stomach feel hollow. she went silent for a few moments as she fought back the thoughts that were suddenly rushing into her mind. she felt a lump in her throat and her chest felt heavy.

madi noticed scarlett's reaction. she saw the sadness in her eyes, her body tensed up, her hands clenched slightly. madi felt concerned, she knew the breakup affected her friend a lot. she had always known how upset she still was, but now it looked slightly worse.

scarlett managed to force a smile on her face. she wanted to keep her feelings private, she didn't want to talk about matt. she could feel madi looking at her, she could see the pity in her eyes.

"ah you know, we decided we're better off as friends," she forced a slight laugh, her voice sounded shaky. "we are still friends, he's a great guy." she said, forcing the words out of her mouth.

scarlett's chest felt tight as she spoke. speaking about matt felt like a dagger to her chest. she knew the question would come up eventually, but she didn't expect it to feel this way in the moment. the wound was still fresh, she loved matt still, but she hadn't wanted to admit it.

"yeah, we've known each other for well forever. i still love him, how couldn't i?" she said, her voice cracking as she spoke, forcing the smile to stay on her face.

"scarlett, i have something to ask you," matt said, his voice held nervousness and excitement.

scarlett looked up at him as he spoke. her eyes sparkled in anticipation of his question. she felt excited to hear what he had to say, her body felt like electricity was coursing through her.

she watched as matt fumbled with his words, noticing the nerves, it made her heart flutter.

"scarlett, would you be my girlfriend?" matt asked, his voice hopeful, his eyes locked on hers.

scarlett's body felt warm, those words sent a surge of happiness through her. she felt like her chest was going to explode from the amount of emotions coursing through her at once. her crush, since like forever, had just asked her to be his girlfriend.

she could only nod for a moment, unable to find her voice with the lump growing in her throat. after a moment she felt like she could speak again. "yes!" she finally said. "yes of course." her voice squeaked a bit from the excitement.

matt's face lit up at her answer. his eyes sparkled with happiness. seeing her excitement and eagerness only made his heart grow warmer. his lips turned into a wide smile as he heard her answer.
