The battlefield was a fractured plane of reality, shards of space and time hanging like glass in the air. Kei's frost-covered sword shimmered with a cold, bright blue light as she lunged at The Time Freezer, her blade slicing through his temporal shields. Ignis, her fiery counterpart, unleashed a torrent of blazing strikes, her every movement leaving trails of embers in the void.
"You won't get away with this!" Kei shouted, her voice resolute.
The Time Freezer smirked, dodging her strike effortlessly, his body flickering in and out of the timestream. "Oh, but I already have," he sneered. "This universe will soon bow to me, frozen in its perfect, unchanging state!"
"Perfect?!" Ignis growled, her crimson hair whipping wildly as flames erupted from her blade. "You call this chaos perfect?!"
She charged, her fiery sword arcing in a wide swing. The Time Freezer raised his hand, and the air around Ignis slowed to a crawl.
"Such... rage," he taunted, stepping aside as her blade narrowly missed. "But rage alone won't save you."
"Kei!" Ignis called out, her voice strained as she fought against the temporal distortion.
"I'm on it!" Kei replied, slamming her sword into the ground. Frost shot out in all directions, disrupting the temporal field and freeing Ignis.
"Nice one," Ignis said, catching her breath.
"Don't thank me yet," Kei replied, eyeing the shadowed figure floating high above them. "We've got bigger problems."
The figure raised their hand, and the air grew heavy as a swirling rift of light and shadow began to form behind Kei and Ignis.
"Is that—" Ignis started, her voice tinged with disbelief.
"A time rift," Kei confirmed, her tone grim.
The mysterious figure's voice echoed across the battlefield, deep and distorted. "You've meddled with forces beyond your understanding, and now, you'll pay the price."
The rift expanded rapidly, its gravitational pull tugging at everything around it.
Kei gritted her teeth, her boots scraping against the ground as she resisted the pull. "Ignis, we need to move!"
"No kidding!" Ignis shouted, flames igniting around her as she tried to propel herself away.
The Time Freezer, now standing a safe distance away, folded his arms and watched with a smirk. "Well, well, well," he said mockingly. "Looks like the two of you are... out of time." He laughed at his own pun, then summoned a massive sphere of frozen energy.
"Hold on!" Kei yelled, frost gathering at her feet as she tried to anchor herself.
The Time Freezer launched his attack. "Goodbye, guardians!"
The icy blast struck the ground near Kei and Ignis, sending a shockwave that loosened their grip.
Kei's eyes widened. "Ignis—!"
The force pulled them both toward the rift, their cries drowned out by the roaring vortex.
