Byun Seong was walking home from a long day at school. The last thing she expected was to find her mother laying on the kitchen floor bleeding out from various places. But if she had to guess, she'd say it was inevitable.
"Mom, I'm home. Do you want me to get to packing yet?" Seong called out to her mother, whom she assumed was in the kitchen cooking dinner. When she didn't hear a respond she walked into the kitchen looking around. Her mother wasn't standing there in the kitchen making dinner, but laying on the floor in a pool of her own blood.
Seong gasped before dropping to her knees crawling over to her mother, the back of her eyes burning with tears threatening to be shed. "MOM!" she wailed. "Who did this to you?" she whimpered.
"Never..mind that Se-seong. Y-you need to get to your brother." her mother choked out before coughing on her own blood more pouring out of her mouth. "No..no..don't talk.. I'll call an ambulance and everything will b-","Se-seong! I said find your brother. Go live with him. I'm not gonna make it, and you know it. This isn't fixable." her mother cut her off looking at her with uttermost affection. "B-but..." she wanted to protest but knew her mother was right. "Mom..." she whispered the tears finally spilling and falling on her mother's face. She quickly wiped them away. "Seong, I love you. I want to tell you before I go, I love you. So much more than you know. You're so strong and I know you can defeat whatever comes your way, my beautiful, magical child." Her mother lifted her hand to Seong's cheek caressing it softly. Seong grabbed her mother's hand and held it against her face rocking her mom back and forth on her lap.
"Seong, I know you want to understand. Solve the case, and you will..."
Her mother's hand slacked and her eyes no longer blinked, her chest no longer shuddering from the struggle of trying to breathe. "Mom, what's that supposed to mean? Tell me! What case?! MOM! Please wake up! Mommy, please. Mommy..." Seong, for the first time in years, cried. She pulled her mother to her chest clutching to the back of her shirt pulling her as close as she could, becoming covered in her mother's blood.
She pulled her phone out of her pocket and called Baekhyun. If her mom wanted her to live with her brother then that's what she was going to do. The phone rung and after two rings a voice sounded on the other line. "Hello?" her brothers voice sounded through the receiver. As soon as Seong heard her brother's voice she let out a loud sob as sadness washed over her, her mother's death was unbearable.
"Hello? Seonggie what's wrong?" he questioned worriedly through the phone.
"I-It's m-mom." she broke through her sobs.
The other end was silent. Baekhyun knew what was happening he knew he had to get to Seong fast.
"I'm coming over now. Wait for me." he said shortly cutting off his side.

When Baekhyun arrive the house was crawling with police and Seong was standing by an ambulance with a blanket wrapped around her while a police officer asked her questions about what she saw.
Baekhyun ran over to her pushing past the police that were holding curious neighbors back. A few police officers were still trying to stop him from running to Seong, when the one next to her noticed the commotion. He turned to Seong seemingly asking her if she knew him, to which she nodded her head running to him embracing him in a hug.
Baekhyun was holding her for what seemed like years till he finally pulled her back looking at her tear stricken face. "Pack your bags, little sis, you're coming with me."
