It was eleventh day since they left the clan. The forest was still, save for the crackling of the fire and the occasional rustle of leaves in the cool night breeze. Most of the group had settled down, exhaustion pulling them into various stages of rest.
Chaewon sat by the fire, absentmindedly stroking Mingyu's hair as his head rested on her lap, his even breathing indicating deep sleep.
Hoseok was beside her, poking at the fire with a stick, while Jimin sat cross-legged nearby, eyes closed but still very much awake.
Further away, under the shadow of the tall trees, Jungkook and Kai sat, their faces softly illuminated by the silver light of the moon.
Kai was beautiful, he had a perfect body which suits his adventurous stories. His raven hair was always tied back, making him more handsome. The body was always straight, only covered with a cloak and some sort of pants, his abdomen naked, a perfect view.
He leaned back against a tree trunk, his redden eyes fixed on Jungkook with an unreadable expression. "You've been quiet tonight," he said, his voice low but gentle.
Jungkook shrugged, his hands fiddling with a stray piece of bark. "Just thinking."
Kai shifted slightly, leaning closer. "About?"
Jungkook hesitated, his gaze dropping to the ground. "A lot of things," he murmured, his voice barely audible.
Kai studied him for a moment before speaking again. "Jungkook, you're... different," he said softly, his voice carrying a sincerity that made Jungkook look up.
"There's something about you—something pure, something rare. It's... hard to ignore."
Jungkook blinked, his lips parting slightly in surprise.
Kai reached out, his hand brushing against Jungkook's.
"I don't know if you see it, but... you're captivating. In ways you don't even realize."
The words hung in the air, heavy and charged. Jungkook's breath hitched, his heart thudding in his chest as Kai leaned closer, his red orbs locking onto Jungkook's doe sparkling eyes.
For a moment, Jungkook didn't move. He didn't pull away, nor did he lean in. It wasn't until Kai's lips ghosted over his own that Jungkook's hands gently pressed against Kai's chest, stopping him.
"Kai..."
Jungkook whispered, his voice trembling slightly.
Kai froze, pulling back just enough to look at him.
"What is it?"
Jungkook's eyes were wide, filled with a mix of confusion and resolve.
"I can't," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
Kai's brows furrowed slightly, his expression both curious and resigned. "Why not?"
Jungkook looked down, his cheeks tinged with a faint blush.
"Because... there's no room in my heart for anyone else," he admitted, his voice shaky but certain.
For a moment, Kai said nothing, his gaze searching Jungkook's face. Then, he smiled—a soft, bittersweet smile.
"You don't have to say it," Kai said, his tone gentle.
"But... whoever it is, you should tell them. They deserve to know."
Jungkook's heart ached at the kindness in Solas's voice. He nodded slowly, his resolve strengthening with every passing second.
"Go," Kai urged, his smile widening slightly.
"Before you lose your courage."
Without another word, Jungkook stood and turned, his legs carrying him through the forest almost on their own accord. His heart pounded in his chest, louder than the wind rustling through the trees, louder than the crackling fire in the distance.
As he emerged into the clearing, his eyes immediately found Taehyung. The silent figure stood a little apart from the others, bathed in moonlight, his broad shoulders framed by the silvery glow. He stared up at the sky, his profile serene but distant, as if lost in a world only he could see.
Jungkook's gaze flickered briefly to the others. Chaewon was still by the fire, her attention divided between fire and Mingyu.
Jimin sat motionless, though his closed eyes suggested he was listening intently to the world around him.
Jungkook's feet moved before he fully decided what to do. He crossed the clearing, his steps purposeful but quiet. When he reached Taehyung, he hesitated for a moment before reaching out and grabbing his hand.
Taehyung turned, startled by the sudden contact. His golden eyes widened slightly as he looked down at Jungkook, the surprise evident in his face.
"Jungkook?"
He asked, his voice low and unsure.
Jungkook took a deep breath, his own heart threatening to burst from his chest. He tightened his grip on Taehyung's wrist, his eyes meeting the older man's with an intensity that left Taehyung momentarily speechless.
"I... I have something to tell you," Jungkook said, his voice shaking but determined.
Taehyung stared at him, the moonlight catching the flicker of emotion in his golden eyes.
