"Daisy!" Esme's voice called out, gentle but insistent, breaking through the quiet of the house. Without thinking, I changed directions, moving toward the sound. It was strange hearing that name, 'my' name, even if it didn't quite feel like it belonged to me yet. They'd said they had decided on it earlier after I'd mentioned I liked fields and open spaces where daisies tended to grow. I hadn't argued when they chose it. It was a nice name, simple and soft, and if it made them happy to call me that, I didn't see the harm.

The house was quieter than before, the earlier bustle of movement subdued. I'd just gotten changed after my rabbit had... relieved itself on the pants Esme had given me. I hadn't minded at first, it had happened before, and I was used to it. But Carlisle had insisted, saying something about hygiene and comfort, urging me to let them clean the soiled pair and replace them with a fresh set. I hadn't wanted to leave my rabbit, not even for a moment, but they'd coaxed me into handing it over to Carlisle while I changed. The only thing that had kept me from panicking was the sound of its heartbeat, steady and comforting, just loud enough for me to hear as I moved.

The new pants they gave me fit better than I expected. Esme had said they were hers, and while they were softer and cleaner than anything I was used to, they didn't feel as strange this time. Maybe I was getting used to their things, or maybe I was just too tired to argue.

I entered the open living room again, where Carlisle and Esme were waiting. My rabbit was in Esme's hands, tucked carefully into a small blanket as she cradled it like something precious. Its heartbeat thrummed softly in my ears, calming the faint unease that always came with being apart from it.

"There you are," Esme said warmly, her smile gentle as she glanced up at me. "All settled?"

I nodded, my eyes fixed on the rabbit. "I didn't want to change," I admitted quietly, shifting awkwardly in place. "It didn't bother me."

"I know," Carlisle said, stepping closer with that same calm expression he always wore. "But it's important to stay clean and comfortable. For your sake and for the rabbit's."

I frowned slightly, my fingers twitching at my sides. It still felt unnecessary, but I didn't want to argue. They seemed so determined, so sure about what was best.

Esme stood gracefully, the rabbit still secure in her arms, and crossed the room to hand it back to me. "Here you go, Daisy," she said softly, the name rolling off her tongue with ease.

I took the rabbit carefully, my chest relaxing the moment its warmth was pressed against me again. "Thank you," I murmured, my voice barely audible.

Esme's smile widened just slightly. "You're very welcome."

As I sat down on the couch again, my rabbit shifting contentedly in my lap, I thought about the name. Daisy. It still felt strange, like a jacket that didn't quite fit, but I didn't mind hearing it from them. If it made them happy, I could live with it. For now.
