That night, I couldn't stop thinking about Edmund. The way his hands were so gentle on me when he wiped my cut. The way he spoke to me. The way he didn't want to risk hurting me. It all made me not want to sleep –that is if I even could– and I guess I just wanted to..Talk to him..? Like..Tell him how I feel?
It would not have been a bad idea, but I over thought it.
"What if he doesn't like me back? What if this ruins our friendship..? What if.."
These negative questions flooded my mind until I decided that I needed some fresh air to refresh my head. That way I can sleep easily.
I got up and pushed my blanket to the side as I put the slippers next to my bed onto my feet.
I got up from the bed and walked across the room that was lit up from the moonlight towards the closed door and I opened it and walked through the castle halls which were lit up from the light gifted from the moon and made my way towards the garden.. Walking past Edmund's room as I did so.. I half hoped he would walk out right now and we can hang out.. But I was also nervous about whether I would end up confessing absentmindedly and ruin everything.
I went to the garden and sat on the bench, looking up at the stars. The constellations in the sky, the patterns, the way they shined. The way they all seemed so confident.. If that makes sense..
I was mesmerized by the stars when I heard a familiar voice in the garden with me.
"Pretty, aren't they?" The voice said..It was..Edmund..?!? I quickly turned my head to see him, painting a smile on my face, my heart fluttering as I did so.
"Yeah," I replied "They are.." I said, looking at him, half talking about the stars, half talking about his eyes.
He walked over and took a seat next to me on the bench.
"Shouldn't you be getting some sleep?" He asked me, out of concern.
"You're one to talk," I joked. "You have more work to do than me in the mornings."
"Okay okay," He replied while chuckling, "Fair"
I felt my heart flutter, his smile.. His eyes glistening in the moonlight.. His crown complementing his eyes and his pale skin..
He's so perfect..
"Stars have always..Fascinated me.." I told him
"Would you like to.. One day get on my horse and we can go watch the stars in a more...secluded place..?" He offered..
WAS HE ASKING ME ON A DATE!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
My heart stopped and time slowed down, I swear it did. I swear everything went silent. I swear It's been hours.
"I..I'd love that.." I said, accepting his invitation as I watched his eyes lit up and a smile appear on his face.
"Is tomorrow night alright?" He asked "I don't have anything better to do..."
When does he have anything better to do anyway?
"Yeah," I excitedly accepted his invitation gratefully, "That sounds perfect.. Im looking forward to it.."
"Great!" He said, I swear he was about to say something else when suddenly a twig snapped and he was on high alert. Gripping on his sword in case he needed to put up a fight.
"Edmund..?" I called "What's going on?"
He didn't respond. He was too focused, that was until a bunny walked forward, revealing itself as the wanted criminal that snapped the twig before hopping away.
