The college campus was intimidatingly vast— it made the Pizzaplex look like a hut. Nova felt lightheaded from exhaustion and exhilaration. Whichever came first. She didn't even notice she was bouncing on her feet until a firm hand grasped her shoulders.

"Nova!" Cassie exclaimed, bringing her back to attention, "Breathe."

Nova frowned at her friend, "Is it necessary?"

"Unless you're a robot, yes," Cassie responded in good humor. Nova exhaled heavily and stilled herself. Robot humans. Ha!— impossible.

"I'm just..." She fidgeted with a Sun pin on her backpack strap, "Really nervous."

The other girl rolled her eyes and started to drag Nova to her next class, "Don't be. We've been engineering stuff since we were...uh..."

"...eight." Nova finished.

"Exactly," She kept pulling her along.

Nova was aware of that— she literally made an animatronic before. The wet floor signs and map bot specifically, but that's irrelevant— those were too basic. They approached a large red double door with a metal placard. "ROOM 2024: ENGINEERING & ROBOTICS" it read.

"Ready?" Cassie asked. Being a senior at the school, she had already taken this class.

Nova huffed, "Not in the slightest." Endearingly, her friend pat her on the head before heading off to her own class. It felt like dropping off a kid to the daycare. At least this time Nova was aware she wouldn't be abandoned. Though this definitely felt like it.

Knowing no one here, she took an empty seat towards the front, and far from the door. She took to doodling in her sketchbook. One of many sketchbooks she had. Feeling homesick, she started to draw her favorite animatronics: the daycare attendants.

The start of class was coming, and the seat next her was empty so she assumed whoever would fill that seat was skipping for the day. Good. Interaction with others would be to stressful.

At some point the red double doors slammed open and a pair of guys entered. One with flamboyant flair and the other with dark demeanor.

The flamboyant one, fair skinned and blond waved with enthusiasm, "HOHOHO—! HELLO BRIGHT FRESHMEN OF DAYSIDE COLLEGE!!!" He composed himself and sat on the desk, swinging his legs rather childishly, "Welcome welcome! First class eh? How exciting! Especially robotics and engineering, because we get to do so many fun—!"

The other guy, his face splotched with vitiligo and irritation, clapped a hand over the blond's  mouth, "For your information, we are the Professor's assistants or 'teacher aids' as some may say. The professor is out temporarily for reasons unconcerning you. We're substituting for him I suppose" he said in monotone, "Don't think you can screw around because we're his assistants. I can be just as strict, if not worse, than him—"

"But don't worry!" the first affirmed, removing the other's hand from his mouth, "We both graduated from Dayside last year, so we're not too much older than most of you. We know what it's like to have fun."

"If that's what they deserve," the second guy started up again. Nova couldn't decipher their relationship. Curiously, she raised her hand. "What?"

She shrunk back a bit, put off by his pique, "Um... was just wondering what your names were."

"Oh," his hardened outer shell seemed to soften, "Maan De Lua."

The blond gestured widely to himself, "I'm Santi Solano! But you all can call me Sonny... if you'd like, call him Moon!"

"Please don't," Moon said.

Nova grinned, pleased with them. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad.
