Ozzy

Being teleported into the middle of a Greek camp against my will was not on my bingo card for the year.

I probably reacted a bit aggressively, drawing my wand and staff, but I was pretty thrown off. It felt like I got chucked through the Duat at the speed of light, with no warning, into an army of possible enemies.

We appear in what I assume is a sort of dining pavilion, standing on a table, with about nineteen other tables and a bunch of burning altars. The food smells heavenly, but my main focus is on the sixty pairs of eyes on me. I feel vulnerable and out of place. The amulet my dad gave me feels warm on my neck.

A centaur trots forward, looking shocked. "What—How—?"

Then, his eyes settle on me, and I can see he's not happy about it.

My friends step off of the table, so I do the same, my eyes locked on the centaur. We both look each other up and down, waiting for the other to make a move.

"Who are you?" He asks finally, though his voice sounds a lot harsher than it had before.

"Chiron, that's Ozzy," Leo manages, having finally recovered. He looks warily between Chiron and I, holding his hands out in a placating gesture. "She's a friend."

"The giants' revenge, Egypt shall birth." Jason says. "Ozzy here is-"

"I see." Chiron interrupts, giving Jason a stern look that clearly means Be quiet or I'll trample you

"Look, Hera sent me here." I tell him. "She said...she said you weren't done with me yet."

"But how are you here?" Chiron asks.

"Like I said, Hera sent me here."

"Only demigods can enter camp." He insists. "For you to be standing here, you'd have to have permission from someone already inside, or you'd have to be—"

A blinding light appears above my head, and I instantly duck down, expecting it to be some sort of spell. The light follows, so I take a few steps to the side, only to be followed again.

"Oh, no way." Leo grins.

Piper chokes, staring wide eyes at the light.

"Oz..." Jason doesn't seem to know how to finish his thought.

I look up and the light fades, revealing a holographic image of two crossed torches.

The torch lady?

"What is your name again, girl?" Chiron asks, shifting from hoof to hoof nervously.

"Osiria Kane. Ozzy." I can't stop staring at the torches. My stomach feels fuzzy, as if something is wildly wrong.

"Hail, Osiria Kane, daughter of Hecate, the goddess of magic, crossroads, and the moon." Chiron crosses his front hooves and bows, and the rest of the shocked campers do the same.

I laugh nervously. "You're joking, right? I'm not a demigod. I'm a—"

"We shall speak more in the Big House." Chiron interrupts me. "In private, if you please." He gestures for me to follow him, though I'm sure it's not a request.

I step forward carefully, and my friends go to follow.

"Just Ms. Kane, please," Chiron tells them. "I'm sure you're all exhausted. You could use a meal and some rest, yes?"

I shoot them a look of panic. I don't want to go alone. I'm nervous enough as it is. I get the feeling that Chiron doesn't want me here at all, that I somehow threaten him and his camp.
