The next morning, Phoenix sat at her table at the dining pavilion next to Davey when Percy dropped in front of her.

Phoenix looked up at him, very confused.

"You better go back to your seat before you get in trouble," Phoenix said, glancing back down at her food. "It'll be pretty obvious to see that the only person at your table is gone."

"Look, Phoenix, I'm really sorry, I know you probably hate me right now but-"

"I don't hate you," she said, looking back up at him. Her irritated glare getting softer.

"Okay, thats... reassuring," Percy nodded. "Well, I know you are probably mad at me, which is totally understandable... but these may be my last few days of existence. I'd rather spend them with my friends, the people I care about, then sit here wishing I did something different."

Each of Percy's words stabbed a different spot in Phoenix's heart. He understood why she was mad. Which was strange because she had no clue.

Why did she get so mad?

If she thought about deeper, she would see that she was afraid of being betrayed and she was afraid of losing him. Percy. The person she loved.

So, instead of building a relationship with him, she pulled a brick out of the alignment and the relationship tower came crumbling down. But it could be fixed. Every destroyed building can be fixed. Every ruined artwork can be restored. And every relationship can be renewed.

And Percy wanted to be with her. He wanted to spend his last time with her.

The person who shut him out whenever she got afraid of ruining their relationship.

He didn't care though.

"Percy, I..."

"Nothing crazy, just old times," Percy suggested. "Yancy style."

"Yancy style?" Phoenix laughed.

"Please?"

"I'd actually like that, a lot," Phoenix smiled.

And here they were. Placing that first brick. The first piece they needed to fix their relationship. As a new relationship that would be stronger and better than any other one before.

After breakfast, Phoenix, Annabeth and Percy walked down to inspect the cabins.

Actually, it was Annabeth's turn for inspection. Percy's morning chore was to sort through reports for Chiron. But since they both hated their jobs, they decided to do them together so it wouldn't be so heinous. And Phoenix didn't have any chores, so she tagged along to stay out of the Apollo vs. Ares drama.

The three half-bloods started at the Poseidon cabin, which was basically just Percy.

He'd made his bunk bed that morning (if you count stuffing everything underneath the blanket as making the bed) and he straightened the Minotaur horn on the wall, so he gave himself a four out of five.

Annabeth made a face. "You're being generous."

Phoenix used the end of a pencil to pick up an old pair of running shorts. "Looks like you spent a long time cleaning."

Percy snatched them away. "Hey, give me a break. I don't have Tyson cleaning up after me this summer."

"Three out of five," Annabeth said.
