Ever come home and find your room messed up? Like some helpful person has tried to "clean" it, and suddenly you can't find anything? And even if nothing is missing, you get that creepy feeling like somebody's been looking through your private stuff and dusting everything with lemon furniture polish? That's kind of the way Phoenix felt seeing Camp Half-Blood again.

Even though she had only left three days ago to get Annabeth and Percy it looked even worse now.

(Three Days Ago)

"Phoenix! Come quick!"

Phoenix looked up from her hands, as she had been painting sunflowers over the back of them. She saw Will Solace who was standing in the doorway of Cabin 7 urgently.

"What's wrong, Will?" Phoenix asked setting the little container of yellow paint onto the side table next to her.

"It's the tree!"

Phoenix threw her quilt forward and swung her legs to the side of her bed jumping down from the top bunk to the floor.

"Thalia?" She asked.

Will nodded and ran back out the door while Phoenix quickly followed him.

Will led Phoenix to Half-Blood Hill where a pine tree stood tall in the middle of the hill.

The tree had turned a nasty yellow-brown color instead of the bright green it normally was. The bark was flaking off in large chunks. The honey colored sap was a acid green color with a rotten smell.

Phoenix quickly brought her hands to her mouth as she let out a gasp.

Phoenix had never met Thalia because she had come to camp a year after Thalia's sacrifice. But she had heard many stories from Annabeth and Grover about how bravely Thalia fought and how she shall be remembered proudly.

Phoenix noticed Chiron and Davey standing close to the tree. Davey held his hand to the trunk, muttering a healing spell with his eyes closed.

Once he removed his hand he looked up at the tree with hope of a change in it health.

But, instead of a positive change, a white quail fell from one of the brances, dead on the ground.

With a sigh of annoyance Davey looked down at the bird.

Phoenix walked up to it and picked it up in her hands. It burned into ashes then transformed into a phoenix bird, then fly into the clouds.

She clutched the golden crystal that strung around her neck as she watched it fly out of view.

"Miss Gomez," Chiron said.

Phoenix looked back down to meet her eyes with Chiron.

"Would you like a try?"

"Um, I-"

"Please try Phoenix," Davey said nervously.

Phoenix took a step forward to the tree and set her hand on it. The light glowed underneath her palm. Through the texture in the bark the light scattered through in shades of gold and pink. It looked like it was working but then the light sparked and Phoenix quickly removed her hand.

"I'm sorry I-" Phoenix began but she was interrupted by a low growl.

Phoenix glanced to the other side of the tree to see a giant bear standing in front of her. The bear was like the Chimera. It had the tail of a dragon and the claws of knives.
