I drove up to about a block away from Billie's house. I didn't want any of the guys to see me on my new ride. I didn't want them to know I passed my test at least not right away. I wanted to hide my car away for a little bit before they trashed it and made it into the same mess at Billie's Basement and garage.

I walked up to Billie's door preparing to be fake moping and act like I failed my test and didn't want to talk about it. Before I even opened the door, Tre and Mike stood on Billie Joe who opened the door with a huge smile on his face.

"Lyla! How did it go!"

Billie shouted staring into my face.

Tre and Mike blankly stared at each other after noticing there was no car around.

"It went alright, I guess."

I said trying not to laugh at the fact that Mike and Tre were both looking at me confused and concerned.

"What the hell does that mean Lyla?"

Tre looked at me baffled as to my answer.

"I mean I-"

"Lyla just spit it out do you have a car or not!?"

Mike hollered over everyone's quiet tension.

I grinned and walked off of Billie's Porch and swayed my arms towards my Mom's Range Rover- which is now mine-.

"Well if you look done there, you'll see my new whip!"

I proudly said.

"Holy shit Lyla!"

Billie yelled.

"Your mom gave you the Range Rover?"

Tre said half laughing and half cheering.

"So when are we taking the first joy ride?"

Mike again hollered over everyone.

"We can right now."

"I call shotgun!"

Billie yelled as he ran down the street to the car Tre and Mike tried to catch him, and I followed behind them.

I put the key into the ignition and started it up.

"I didn't think you guys would be so excited over a fucking Range Rover!"

"Lyla-"

Billie looked out at me with his jade-colored eyes.

"- a car is a car."

"Whatever Beej, you guys are just lucky it was me who got my license first because that means I'm stuck as the designated driver."

"Damn Straight!"

Tre yelled from the back.

"Well, idiots where am I chauffeuring you?"

"The Liquor Store!"

Tre and Mike yelled grinning at each other.

"I am not getting arrested on my first joy ride!"

"I mean..."

Billie looked over at me nudging my arm.

"Billie, I'm not getting caught with liquor 30 minutes after my mom gave me her old car!"

"Please!"

All three of them whined in unison.

"Fuck-fine. But I'm parking at least a block away and It won't be my ID."
