Imlie's Pov

I took a glance at Aditya and he was fuming with anger. He looked at me with disgust.

My mum greeted Aditya coldly and moved to Aryan.

'Welcome sir, Thank God you both arrived safely. You shouldn't have come, the village isn't safe at the moment.' My mum stated.

'I couldn't stay back knowing that you and imlie are still out here in danger.' Aryan replied.

'It's not your duty to worry about her.' Aditya snapped and pulled me forcefully towards him.

'Imlie, are you okay? You aren't hurt in any way, right?' Aditya asked.

'Yes, I'm not hurt.' I answered and tried to pull away from him, but his grip only grew tighter.

'Let her go Aditya!' Aryan warned, walking up to him with clenched fists.

'And if I don't, what will you do?' Aditya retorted back. His eyes blazed with anger.

'Enough!' My mum yelled. 'Aditya, let go of my daughter.'

'But mu...' Aditya started to talk when my mum cut him off.

'Don't call me that, just let her go. You no longer have that right.'

'Even you?' Aditya asked my mum in disbelief. 'She is clearly having an affair with her boss and you are supporting her.'

'Like mother, like daughter.' He said and scoffed.

The sound of a slap cut through the thick night.

'Don't you dare insult me or my daughter. Imlie is your ex wife, remember this and let my daughter go.'

My mum forcefully pulled me away from his grip.

'Get inside imlie and prepare food for our visitors. You two are welcomed inside.' she said, and we both entered the hut.

Aryan followed us inside, but Aditya remained outside.

It's been ten minutes, and I started to grow worried.

'I think I should go fetch him mum, I'm scared.' I made eye contact with Aryan and he rolled his eyes.

'Let him be imlie, he will come in when he likes.' My mum says while kneading the dough.

'But, it's not safe outside.' I say and few seconds after, sounds of gunshots were heard.

I quickly stood up and rushed to the door, on getting to the door, the door suddenly opened and I collided with Aditya.

He held me and pulled me closer to him, tightening his grip on my waist.

'Even the lord doesn't want us to be apart.'  He said looking at Aryan and Aryan scoffed.

I pulled myself from his grip and pointed at where he should sit.

'Dinner will be ready in 30 minutes.' I say and dash into the kitchen.

We all settled down and ate in silence. Aditya refused to eat and we kept his plate aside, he kept glaring at me the entire time.

'You both should take a bath and go to bed. The bathroom is just a few blocks away. I think it's safe to go out now.' My mum said and went to the door.

She placed her ears on the door to listen for footsteps but didn't hear any.

'You know how to bathe with a bucket right?' I asked Aryan and he chuckled.

'Yes, why not?' He answered. 

I laughed lightly. 'This isn't your bathroom at home with a shower and bathtub.'

'Okay, tell me how to bathe then.'

'You fetch water, pour over your body, then you clean with soap and pour water over your body again to get rid of the soap.' I explained while he nodded.

He looked around before pulling me closer and whispering inside my ears. 'I know how to bath with a bucket Imile, but I don't mind you helping me out.' He says and winks at me.

I punched him playfully in the chest. 'You can't be serious.'

An hour later, everyone has bathed and settled in the house.

We locked the doors and windows then pushed the table to the door for extra protection.

'We've got three rooms,' my mum announced.

I and Imlie will share one room, you and Aryan can share the other room.

'I don't want to share a room with him,' Aditya stated vehemently.

'Suit yourself then,' my mum says exhausted and walks back to the room when I call out to her.

'Mum, please can he sleep in grandma's room?' I asked and she glared at me.

'Let Aryan stay in grandma's room then he can stay in the other room.' My mum responded.

'What have I done wrong?' Aditya asked, turning to face my mum. 'Why are you treating me like a stranger?'

I sighed, it was going to be a very long night.
