Her laugh would echo in their heads forever. Now, Vanessa's transformation wasn't as dramatic as Crane's or as simple as Ian's. Instead, a huge black sword, made of ice, was in her left hand, and her crown had grown larger. And the very last part of this nightmare was the wings that sprouted from her back.

Instead of the feathery delight, I'm sure you're thinking of, the wings were made of black spears. The material was presumably ice, but it was hard to tell with the curse's interference.

The spears were positioned about one spear length away from each other, and the ones that were further away would be arced upwards like actual wings.

The crew watched in horror as she rose from the crater, she instantly appeared before Crane and she smashed her leg into his rocky form, sending him flying into the Snatcher. They both lost their forms instantly, the Snatcher moved into the shadows, providing heat for Crane before he froze to death.

Thor watched in horror, as Vanessa turned toward Bow knowing there was absolutely nothing he could do to help her, she grabbed the tail of Bow's serpent form and began to spin her around like a hurricane. After minutes she let go, and no one was able to approach her due to the fact she was spinning at insane speeds.

Bow went flying into Thor and there was nothing he could do to stop that. They both went tumbling down the icy hellscape, the suit destroyed, and both of them back to their regular forms. Fortunately, due to the multiple-engine system Thor developed, he was able to provide enough heat for both of them using the scrapes of the suit.

Only then Hat Kid would snap back to reality, the fox fire fending off the cold. She also noticed Ian with what seemed to be thousands of icicles in his chest, it was his plan to get hurt more but even he knew this was a little too many.

Vanessa turned to face them, the darkness pooling in front of her face, her red eyes gazing into them, "Only two left." Her voice was like steel, rusty almost.

Ian released a sound that was a hybrid of a sad laugh and the sound of coughing up blood," I always dreamed of the moment when I would have another chance." he turned to Hat Kid," I knew we'd get our asses kicked but this is just something else." Then he laughed and through the endless cold and smell of decay, Hat Kid joined him too.

Taking advantage of Vanessa's confusion, because even the curse believed no one would laugh under these circumstances, Hat Kid used the fox fire to establish a mental connection with Ian.

"Alright here's the plan," Ian communicated telepathically through the newly established connection, "Not that complicated, I'm dying, but the fox fire is keeping me alive a little longer, and with this much damage I should be able to keep up with her, so I stall until you find a way to weaken the curse, the only one strong enough to beat it is Vanessa".

Hat Kid nodded toward him and returned to her mental space, completely unaware of reality as she tried to figure out just how to use the fox fire to save them.
