After Nicole left the room, I turned to look at Shawn. He didn't seem to be paying attention to me necessarily, but to the clothing I was wearing. "Shawn?" I asked, trying to grab his attention.
He lifted his head up to look at me while keeping his eyes on my shirt for a few more seconds until he finally looked me in the eye. "What?" He asked.
"Nothing." I squeaked out. He sighed and sat down next to me on the bed so he was facing me with his legs hanging over the side of the bed. His eyes slowly made their way back to his shirt that currently resided on my body, his pupils dilating slightly before quickly returning to normal when the door to his room was slammed shut.
"Okay, here are some extra sheets. Taylor says they are pretty old but they should do." Nicole said while holding onto the door handle and reaching over to the bed and placing down an extra sheet. She smiled at both of us as Shawn thanked her before leaving the room again, closing the door behind her.
Shawn got up and walked around the bed to the other side, picking up the folded sheet, walking around the other side again, then placing the sheet on his nightstand before turning to me. He shoved his hands in his pockets, looking anxious now. "Um, I'm guessing you can't stand up right now, can you?" He began to sway back-and-forth on the balls of his feet.
I shook my head. "No."
"Okay, um, shit." He mumbled. He removed his hands from his pockets before leaning down over my body and picking me up again. He brought me into his chest for all of ten seconds before gently sitting me on the floor. "Hold on a second while I change the sheets. Sorry I don't have a seat in my room." He said, getting to work with removing the wet sheet. He worked quickly, trying not to kick me when he came around to the side of the bed I was sat on.
His room was very small and enclosed with not much to it. He had when looked like a full-sized bed positioned in the middle of the room against one wall, with only about two feet of floor on both sides. The side farthest from the door had a small nightstand against the same wall of the bed with water ring stains all over the top with only a lamp on it. His closet was open, showing not much in it besides four shirts hanging on broken, plastic hangers and a guitar leaning against the inside wall.
"Okay." I heard Shawn breath under his breath while tossing the dirty sheet in a corner of the room as there was no hamper in here. The clean sheet was already on the bed.
He walked back over to me, smiling down at me as he wrapped me back in his arms and lifting me up off the carpet. I put my head in the crook of his neck for a split second, taking in the smell of smoke. Maybe he was smoking one of those blunts again? He laid me down on one side of the bed again. He held me for another couple seconds after I was on the bed before slowly pulling his arms from me. Shawn took the other side of the bed, turning to face me on his side. I wish I could do the same so our bodies were facing each other, but my hip was still causing me discomfort and pain.
"I'm sorry this happened to you." He whispered. I turned my head to face him, finding him starring directly into my eyes.
"It's not your fault. Why are you sorry?" I asked, even though I think it might be more of a rhetorical question because we both knew he had nothing to be sorry for.
"Just..." He sighed. "Sorry you're in pain, and that you have to stay here tonight. You'll probably have be woken up tonight."
I cocked my head to the side, confused. "Why?"
