Chapter 3

The summer started and so did our summer practices. Coach long was our main coach and our team had a lot of fun together. We even beat the varsity a few times in scrimmages. Everyone on our team seemed to have a friend on the team..all except Britlyn. She seemed so cool but she was shy. It was my mission to get that out of her. Plus she's my teammate.

"Britlyn, you want a ride?" I asked her.

She's usually gone by now and my aunt just got there. I didn't wanna leave her behind.

"Yeah." She replied and grabbed her bag and came to the car.

My aunt had an appointment so she'd just drop us off at my house while we waited for Britlyn's grandma.

Maybe I can get her to talk.

"So Britt, what grade are you going to?" I asked her.

"11th." She replied simply.

"For real?" I asked kind of shocked.

Honestly I don't know what I expected.

"Yeah. What grade are you going to?"

"I'll be a freshmen next year.."

She looked really surprised. "Wow. You really don't look like it." She said with a smile.

"Yeah I know" I sighed.

"That's not a bad thing. She said smiling at me. "It'll be easier for you to blend in, in high school."

"Well yeah that's true.." I said. I couldn't help but smile back

We seemed to talk about everything under the sun for 10 minutes but I couldn't reveal my deepest secrets to her yet but I knew that day, that one day I would..

Her grandmother picked her up and when she left I was bored. I couldn't wait to see her again tomorrow..she was so cool, and easy to talk too. I loved the vibe I got from her. But it all had to wait because I couldn't get her number because she didn't have a phone. I didn't know why..I just knew she didn't.

Everyday after I would get up every morning and be excited for practice. Soon enough our 1st play date.  We were going to Tennessee State. We played 3 games and won all 3. So did the freshmen and Varsity lost one in overtime.

"Give me back my shoe " I said playfully to Jaid and Britlyn. "Yall playful and I'm trying to sleep" I laughed.

"I don't have your shoe..." Jaid said

I looked at Britlyn who looked guilty.

"Give me my shoe.."

"You gone have to come get it" she winked. They had been playing fruity all day but I had to stop playing with Britlyn. I was starting to get a girl crush on her.

"Why you can't just give me my shoe?" I asked.

"Why you can't just come get it she asked?" She asked with this smirk on her face. It was some about that girl's eyes that was so dang attractive.

I got a text and I started to text back but she snatched it from me. I was definitely getting my phone back. She was sitting behind me on the bus so I climbed back because Jaid was laid out in the isle. I sat next to her.

" I knew you wanted me." She smirked

"Man chill out.." I said mushing her head.

" but you not about to go to sleep.."

I looked at her like😟 who is you?

"Says who?" I asked with a smirk.

"Says Britlyn.... I run this." She informed me.

"Oh word?" I said coolly, but surprised.

"Yeah, word" she smirked.

"Oh ok shawty" I said sitting back in the seat.

I had a few thoughts to myself as I looked out the window.

Yo, I really like this girl. Wtf. Did I just think that. She could never like me tho so lemme chill. It's probably just a lil girl crush..I'll get over it right?

On the way home, I reflected on the day. Britlyn and my one of my freshmen teammates Katie, talked on our way to Tennessee. We all played like me and Brit were a couple that day so I texted Katie.

Me: yo, I miss Britt😩😂

Katie: smh😂😂😂😂😂 she don't miss you.

Me: I bet she do. 😂😏

Katie: imma tell her😂

Me: she don't even got a phone bruh😂

Katie: but I follow her on ig. 😜

Me: no chill! What's her name?

Katie: I'm not telling you😂

Me: tell me please Katie!

Katie: I already told her 😂😊 and its wickedness__

Me: okay bet.

By the time I followed Brit and she accepted my request. Her and Katie had already had a conversation about me under the picture.

Kvtie__ : Jen said she misses you 😂😂 

Wickedness_: aw. Tell her I miss her too☺

Kvtie__: 😂 okay. She playing you tho btw😂😂😂

Wickedness: she better not be. I don't play about mines 😏

I decided to comment and stand up for myself.

Jen_thegreat: 😂😂 Katie play too much. Ian no player

Wickedness: mmhm sure you aren't..

After a few more comments I was really feeling Brit which was so scary to me. Maybe I'm tripping.
