HAMZAH

I lean back on the couch as Mandy and Martin start arguing about Martin being unorganised or something like that. Honestly I wouldn't know all the details because I've managed to learn to tune them out.

"Love how this turned into a couple's therapy session. Real riveting for everyone."

Mandy shrugs, her grin never faltering. "Speaking of riveting, we should talk about your love life for a change."

"Pass," I say quickly, but it's too late. The glint in her eyes tells me she's not letting it go.

Martin leans forward, resting his hands, "Alright, Hamzah, let's get into it. Hypothetically, if you did  have a girlfriend—" I instantly know where this conversation is going, and I'm not about to get exposed on a podcast.

"Hypothetically, Martin, if you had— a wife?" I say almost in the tone of a question, and Mandy instantly 'oooos'  and Martin lets out a deep sigh.

"Okay, well, you need a girlfriend before you can get a wife." he says as he makes hand gestures to match his words. Before I could even respond he faces me directly with some sort of authority.

"Everyone comment propose to Mandy!" Mandy suddenly perks up and lets out a small laugh.

"Start a chain, guys," I say, aiming the mic uncomfortably close to my mouth.

Just as I'm speaking, I glance in the corner of my eye Mandy slightly muttering something at Martin, but it's too quiet for the mic to detect, Martin glances over at her somewhat before facing me directly.

"What is the ideal first date for you, Hamzah? This way our audience is able to get an idea," He asks, I shoot him an aggressive look before responding,

"Let's not entertain this idea you created," I say dryly but emphasising the word you.

"At least answer the question," Mandy crosses her arm around her mic, and Martin nods along.

"Uh well, I never thought of it— not saying I haven't been on dates," I let out a small chuckle. Mandy side-eyeing me at my response.

"A first date to me should be magical but natural at the same time", I say with somewhat of an accent, and Martin and Mandy glance over at each other.

It's so painfully obvious that they're hinting at me asking Y/N out. I won't admit it to them, but I've already been planning it out, and I decided that I won't be directly asking her out.

It'll be when I'm driving her, most likely when it's on the way back home, the idea will come up naturally. Maybe I'll say something like, 'What do you usually do for fun?' Then I'll gauge her reaction.

If she doesn't, I'll throw it in there. Something like, 'There's this arcade I've been wanting to check out. Would you want to come with me sometime?'

I shouldn't overthink it, though. It's not like this would be the first time we've hung out, just the two of us.

It's just the idea of it being a date that's making me overanalyse everything.

"Magical," Martin mimics me with an exaggerated wow face, and I quickly laugh it off, attempting to change the topic.

"Was your first date with Mandy magical?" I ask, leaning into the mic. Mandy lets out a small laugh, glancing over at Martin with a raised brow.
