It's annoying how busy life gets around Christmas time, except I just hate how it's busy for everyone but me.

Luckily I'm not all alone, I have Lia.

Unluckily, her wish list is too packed for my money range.

I stare at my phone for a moment, half-expecting a text that isn't coming. Hamzah's been caught up with his channel and Martin, but he promised that once they're done, our date will still happen.

Whenever we actually figure out what we're doing...

I can't help feeling guilty about how much I've asked of Hamzah. Even with everything he's doing—whatever that is—with Martin, he still makes time to check in with me.

It's frustrating to admit, but painting doesn't always keep me as busy as I'd like. So sometimes, I just pretend to be busy—it's easier than feeling useless.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to our date.

It feels strange to think of it though— especially since I'm the one who asked him. Because of that, I can tell Hamzah's been trying extra hard to plan it.

My phone buzzes, and I feel my body nerves snap just slightly.

I grab it, expecting another one of Hamzah's casually chaotic texts. Instead, it's Lia telling me she's outside my house. I've unfortunately promised to help her shop for some last-minute gifts.

The minute I open the door for Lia, she rushes in,  slightly shivering.

She looks around quickly, searching for any sight of possible gifts before reluctantly plopping down on the couch.

"I'm still looking for a gift," I admit as I sit beside her.

"My wishlist wasn't that complex," She says, casually shrugging. I scoff at her as a response while she takes out her laptop.

"I should just order gifts online right? Too cold to go shopping." She lets out a small sigh and I nod along.

"That's what I'm doing," I reply, she shoots me a small look before slightly smirking.

"Are you going to get a gift for Hamzah?" She turns her attention over to me. I feel myself freeze for a moment.

Are we even up to that stage?

Is there a stage about Christmas gifts?

I clear my throat, not responding just yet. She lets out a small laugh before wrapping her arms around me, pushing me closer to her.

"It's okay, you can just give me his gift!" She says, although I'm not sure if she's joking or not, I slightly push her away.

"I can't if I don't even have a gift," I murmur and she perks up.

"What if he got you a gift?" Lia asks, raising an eyebrow.

I shake my head. "I doubt it. He's been so busy, and it's already hard enough trying to plan a proper day for our date." My tone dips slightly, and Lia gives me a sympathetic look.
