Waking up the next morning, I got up and had a shower getting changed into the first thing I could find, which ended up being black jeans and a white button up dress shirt.
Rolling up my sleeves as I walk down the stairs I see Charles sitting at the tables reading the paper with a coffee in his hand.
I sit down next to him and sit there awkwardly for s little while.
"I'm sorry.....about yesterday." I said quietly, tapping my hand on the table repeatedly.
"That's alright, but you're right. It is our fault that we don't know you, and that we weren't there for you and Hayley when we should've been........ How did she die?"
"Leukaemia, she got sick when I was ten. She died a year ago." He just nodded to this looking down at his coffee mug.
"You shouldn't have had to go through that alone. She could have called us we could have helped."
"She wanted to send me here, but I didn't want to leave her. I think she just couldn't face everything all at once. She needed to pace things out, but she didn't get too far." I said with a strained chuckle. "Um, look I need to fill out a prescription, I was supposed to get some before coming here, but things were kind of hurried."
"Prescription for what?"
"Okay, well you see......I get these horrible cramps, and they're just awful." I said with a sigh. "So I get some stuff to help out."
"Yeah, we'll see what we can do."
"Thanks."
"I'm starving!" George said walking into the room.
"I can cook." I said. They look at me weirdly.
"That's a joke right?"
"No....should it be?"
"Are you a good cook?" Charles asked.
"Moderately." I said slowly, sounding unsure.
"Good enough. Kitchens that way." George said pointing to the kitchen.
I got up and headed towards the kitchen, while walking there someone came through the back door.
"Um hi. I'm Liam, Claire's Boyfriend. Who are you?"
"I'm Reid. Congratulations about the baby, by the way." I said giving him a pat on the back.
"Wait....w-what? No-o....." He said stuttering.
"She hasn't told you has she? Oops." I said looking away guiltily.
He ran up the stirs calling out for Claire.
Smirking I opened the fridge looking for something to make, while listening to the commotion going on upstairs.
"Who are you?" A voice asked from behind me. Turning around, I dropped the container of butter from my hand, and stood their gaping at her.
She was absolutely beautiful. Her luscious blonde hair reaching her waist shone from the light of the early sun, mystifying blue eyes stared back at me.
She raised an eyebrow at me when I didn't reply.
"Uh, hi I'm ah...Reid." I replied. Yeah that was totally smooth Reid, way to go. I thought to myself.
Shaking her head she sat down at the counter.
"I'm family." I told her shortly once I'd stopped acting like an idiot.
"Family? How?"
"Ruth and Charles are my Grandparents. So, may I have the pleasure of knowing your name?" I raising my eyebrow at her.
