Jade's Point of View

"Where'd you go today?" My father repeats, this time his tone of voice is more stern. I frown and look down, searching for an answer on my ripped and faded blue jeans. I scour my mind for a halfway decent lie, and wait to take my chance.

"I had to return the vhs copy of The Breakfast Club to Mary," I blurt, and look up at my father to gauge his reaction.

"For one, you know I don't like you watching that movie, and secondly, I can tell when you're lying and you know what happens when you lie, there are consequences, Jade. And, it seems as if you and your dim witted brother don't know how to live right in the eyes of the lord." My father says, a frown upon his face and fury in his eyes. I watch intently as my mother reaches across the table to grab my father's hand, but he shoo's her away, and turns his full attention back to me. "Jade, I'm going to tell you what I told your brother, you're going to live by God's word, or I want you to pack your bags and get out of this house."

I say nothing, and abruptly slide myself along with the chair I'm sitting in out from the table, and leave, throwing my fork and napkin into my plate as I go. I rush up the stairs and do as I was told, I pack all of my clothes into a large suitcase and collect all the things I hold dear to me, including my vintage records and my photo album. I zip the suitcase, and leave my room and sanctuary, the only place that I've ever held dear to my heart. I successfully make it down the stairs with my suitcase. I make it to the front door, and open it with haste, "Hasta la vista, Assholes." I laugh, slamming the front door behind me.

The next thing I know, I'm standing in front of the small house I had found myself at hours before. This time though I don't knock on the garage door, instead I knock on the front door. I'm surprised to see, Brittany, my brother's girlfriend. "Hey, Jade?" She greets more as a question than a statement.

"Brittany." I smile. I stand outside the door for a few measured seconds, until she moves away from the door and motions for me to come inside. After she closes the door, she leads me down a short hallway and into what looks like a family room. Inside the room sit the guys from earlier along with Reb. When he sees me walk into the room with my suitcase in tow, his face is absolutely priceless. Reb looks genuinely surprised to see me. I watch as he stands up from his spot on the couch, and gives me a questioning look, "What are you doing here, Jade?"

"I was hoping I'd be able to bunk with you guys for awhile." I smile weakly, trying not to sound too desperate.

"This isn't even my house," Reb mutters, rolling his eyes.

"Then whose house is it?" I ask. Within a second Kip raises his hand, and I take a deep breath, knowing that I'll probably have to beg to stay here. "Can I please stay here... Kip?" Once again, with another question.

A large grins grows upon Kip's face, and he looks at me with a wild look in his eyes. "Of course, anything for you, sweetheart."

After being granted permission to stay at the house, Reb gives me a tour. I learn that although the house looks small on the outside, it's large on the inside. The house is a three bedroom, two bathroom. The first bedroom Reb showed me was the master bedroom, this was supposedly Kip's bedroom. I must say though, it was very well decorated and had a huge king sized bed and t.v inside. The other bedrooms were Reb and Brittany's, and Rod and Paul's. "Where am I going to sleep?" I ask Reb as we travel back to the family room.

"Most likely the couch, unless someone wants to share a bed." Reb answers, and I nod in understanding.

When everyone finally decided to go to bed around two a.m, I rushed to get some pillows and blankets for my bed on the couch. Reb instructed me that I could find pillows and blankets in the closet located in the hallway. When I finally opened the closet and was collecting all the things I would need, Kip pulled me out of the closet and closed the door. "You can share my bed, go get your suitcases." He says.

"Are you sure?" I mumble, and he smiles and nods.

I grab my belongings from the family room, and I go to Kip's room at the end of the hallway. I enter the room, and close the door placing my suitcases beside of it. I entered the ensuite bathroom, closed the door and changed into a pair of pajamas. As I reentered the room, I frown at him as he's already spread out across the bed. "There will be a barrier of pillows between us at all times, I'm only seventeen, remember." I stated climbing into the bed. Kip laughs but puts one of his pillows between us. I smile at him, "Thank you."

"Anything for you, sweetheart."

Little did I know, that within a few short weeks the pillow barrier would no longer exist.
