Lea
The sound of the radar alarm wakes me up and brings me back to reality. With my eyes still closed, my hand searches for my phone on my night stand. Grabbing my phone I look at the time, it's 6:56. It's been a long 4 years and the day is finally here, my first last day of college. My first class starts around 8. After laying in bed for another five minutes checking all my social media, I pad over to my closet trying to find something to wear. Weather in LA is amazing, it's not to hot or to cold. I decide on some ripped jeans, my favorite white tank top and my Toms.
I step into the shower . The hot water hits my shoulders and relaxes all my muscles. I am definitely not the best looking person in the morning. My hair looks as though I stuck my finger in an outlet. The bags under my eyes are evidence of the summer nights I stayed up partying. It doesn't take me that long to get ready. My hair is in loose waves and my face has minimal makeup. I'm out the door by 7:30. I decide to drive over to Starbucks before I head to class in need of an early morning pick me up.
As I open the door, the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee hits my nose. Surprisingly, it's not as busy as I thought it was going to be considering it's commute hours. Gazing around I notice a man sitting in the corner, his nose buried in a book. His curly brown hair is pushed up off his forehead making it stand up a little bit. His green eyes seem so focused making his eyebrows furrow in the middle. They were so enchanting. He darts out his tongue to wet his lips and I notice how pink his lips are. I was snapped out of my day dreaming when I hear the barista trying to get my attention.
"Excuse me ma'am"
"Oh sorry," I say as I move towards the counter.
"What can I get you?"
"Yeah can I just get a grande pike roast please?"
As I wait for my cup, I notice the the man was ordering. Next thing I know, he's standing right next to me. Luckily the barista called out my name. I grab my cup and rush out of there. I'm stopped when I feel a hand grabbing my arm.
"Is this yours?"
His voice is deep and a little raspy. It sounds like he has an accent, but it's hard to tell.
"Oh yeah thanks," I reply grabbing my wallet.
He walks out of the door before I can say anything else. I'm left standing in the middle of the coffee shop feeling flustered and alone.
When I arrive to my first class I'm left with three minutes to spare. I decide to sit in the third row. English Lit shouldn't be that hard considering I'm passionate about reading and writing. My thoughts are once again interrupted by when a small lady with blonde hair enters the classroom. She sets all her things on the wooden desk and begins writing her name on the board. Mrs. Smith.
"Welcome to English Lit. This is your very last first day of school. Let's make the best of it and get it started right. Your first assignment is to write a short novel and..."
I gaze up from my note taking when the I notice the eerie silence of the classroom. I look up and see the familiar emerald eyes the caught my attention this morning.
Harry
Okay so I'm five minutes late. These people act like they've never seen someone late to class before.
"Nice of you to join us Mr..."
"Styles."
"Mr. Styles. Okay well take a seat wherever there's an empty seat."
I presume this little lady is the teacher. Trying to find a seat, I notice that there's only one open. I plant myself in the second row. As I sit down I can feel all these eyes on me, especially the girl behind me. I feel like I have seen her somewhere.
"As I was saying, you are going to begin writing a short novel. It is due right before we leave for Thanksgiving break. I will then choose the top two stories who I feel have the most potential from this class and they will accompany me to the AWP conference in Seattle."
After class I notice that girl sitting behind me was the same girl who dropped her wallet this morning at Starbucks. She begins to approach me.
" I just want to say thank you for picking up my wallet earlier. You left before I got to say anything.."
I cut her off not really interested in continuing this conversation. "Yeah, you're welcome." I continue to walk off leaving her there.
