The Next Day:

Zero's P.O.V.:

After the morning class was dismissed, I left the school ground and headed directly toward Mr. Cross' office. "Do you have a minute? We need to talk." I told him as I walked closer to his desk. Mr. Cross was sitting there, working on some papers when he replied to me: "Oh, Zero! Sure! Have a seat."

"So..." I went straight to the point: "What happened?"

"What happened to what?" He tore his eyes from looking at the papers in his hands and he gave me a quizzical gaze.

"The breakfast. What did you talk about? Did she tell you anything?" I questioned.

"Hn?" Kaien raised an eyebrow at me: "I see you're interested, Zero."

"Interested?" I scoffed. "Hmph, no way. But..."

"Hnhnhn..." he muffled a giggle with his palm: "Are you... interested in... her, perhaps?"

"Hey!"

Kaien cracked up laughing: "Hahaha! I'm just kidding, Zero!"

"Well, that's not funny at all!" I snapped. "Interested, you say? If anything, I don't really trust that kid! We don't even know her!"

"I do." Kaien stated.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yes. She told me everything about her."

"Perfect. And what did she say?"

Kaien brought his index finger to his lips: "It's confidential information. Can't tell."

"What?!"

"But if you really wish to learn more about her, why don't you go and ask her? She might actually tell you."

"You're impossible!"

"I know." He grinned. I grunted, trying to ignore his aggravating attitude, but he couldn't miss a single opportunity to niggle me: "I've given her the School uniform."

"What for?" I asked in puzzlement.

"Zero, you're so slow in catching on! What else could it be? For the Morning Class of course!"

"She's attending the class?!"

"Yes. I mean, she's going to stay here for a while, so it wouldn't hurt if she joined the other students and participated in the school's program. I'm sure she'll like it here. Besides..." he fixed the glasses over the bridge of his nose: "She'll also appreciate your help very much, Zero."

"My help? What does that have to do with me?"

"You'll be her escort from today on."

"I decline." I responded abruptly.

"You've got no choice in this, Zero. I've already told her that you'll be more than glad to show her around the academy."

"I hate you." I growled.

"I know." Kaien chuckled, which contributed a lot to my annoyance. "I sure know how to press your buttons, little Kiryu! Aren't I awesome or what?"

"No, you're not." I uttered blankly.

"Zero! You're so mean!"

Reader's Part:

You stood in front of the tall mirror in your room, gazing at your reflection as you worked on fixing the red bowtie that adorned your uniform. However, you couldn't focus solely on the task in hand, for your thoughts were drawn elsewhere. With a distant gaze, you gave full rein to the train of your troubling thoughts: It's been a week since you came to this place, but you still haven't received any news concerning your brother. 'What do I do now?'
