Tonight was the night. They were going to break Hayley's curse. They just need to get a werewolf to turn into a hybrid.
Hayley didn't want anyone to have to die either, but she hated being binded. It felt like a part of her had been shackled and locked away, which it had. That's why she felt like she would do anything to get it back.
Klaus was taking care of finding a suitable werewolf, she made him promise to at least try to find one that was a bad person. That way maybe she wouldn't feel so guilty.
The guilt was still there though, so to distract herself, she made everyone's favorite food for breakfast.
For Elijah she was making croissants, for Hope she was making beignets, and for Enna she was obviously making pancakes.
The croissants and beignets were in the oven as she flipped the pancakes on the stove.
The scent of all delicious foods helped put her at ease as she thought about tonight's ritual. However the worries of tonight just kept gnawing at her.
Focus on the pancakes
She told herself. Pancakes, Enna's favorite. Enna had been such a sweetheart, Hayley chuckled to herself as she remembered how worried she was the girl would do terrible things. Things that now Hayley could no longer imagine Enna doing. Yet the poor girl still got punished. Turned into a werewolf because she wanted to help them.
The guilt returned.
Tonight was a full moon. Enna would have to suffer through that again. Nights were already bad enough for the girl whenever her bones weren't breaking. Hayley had come to the realization over the past couple of days that Enna had nightmares every night. She tried her best to comfort the girl whenever they occurred but in the end she couldn't do much.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when Elijah came out of their room.
"Good morning." He greeted as he moved behind her to press a kiss on her cheek.
"Good morning." She responded with a small smile despite her uneasiness. However Elijah saw right through it.
"Nervous about tonight?" He questioned. Hayley sighed.
"Not just that. I feel guilty that someone has today just so I can feel whole again." Hayley admitted.
"Hayley you deserve to feel whole again. Definitely more than Niklaus ever did. Besides, Niklaus already called to reassure me he found a werewolf that frankly doesn't deserve to live." Elijah reassured as he wrapped an arm around her in comfort.
"Really?" Hayley questioned.
"Really." Elijah confirmed. Hayley smiled at him before they kissed but were interrupted as they heard a groan behind them. They turned around to see Hope looking at them in mild disgust as Enna looked the other way not used to seeing people displaying physical affection. Hayley and Elijah pulled away, small chuckles of amusement falling from both of their lips.
"It's too early for this." Hope complained as her and Enna sat down at the kitchen island.
"Good morning to you too." Hayley said sarcastically.
"You made pancakes." Enna noticed with a smile.
"Yup," Hayley said as she handed Enna a plate. "Pancakes for you," she stated warmly. Enna took the plate with a smile and thanked her.
Next, Hayley turned to the oven. "Beignets for you," she announced, carefully taking them out. Hope eagerly grabbed one, her face lighting up as she said, "Thanks!"
