A race against time

Chapter-4 We're history!

The night came, I slept in my office, when suddenly I heard tapping on the window and looked out. There before me, in all black, was Erik.
"Let's go", he whispered,
"What do you mean? Go where?", I replied,
"To the bank"
"What?", suddenly everything clicked. The need for money, the secret idea, the black clothing and now, a trip to the bank. We were going to rob the bank.
"Cmon!"
"No! We're not robbing the bank! What if we get caught?"
"If you really are from the future, then the police won't have your records"
"So it's ok if I get caught", I said sarcastically
"You need that money don't you?"
He was right, I did need the money and 67 days will take too long. This was the only option.
"*sigh*Okay, but nothing risky"
"Great, grab some dark clothing and let's get going!"

'Bank Of England' is what was displayed in big bold letters when we got to the establishment.
"So what's the plan?", I silently asked
"We go through the air ducts..."
"Without making a noise?"
"Well, you think of a better plan!"
"Hmmm..., we go back in time to this morning and walk into the bank, then go forward In time to now and walk in to get the money"
"..."
"Ready?"
"Ok, let's go!"
I put the TimeWatch around both our hands and adjusted the time to this morning. A flash of rainbow light appeared as I pressed the button and we were sent back through time. We appeared in the same place, but in the morning and walked into the bank to use the TimeWatch again. Rainbow light surrounded us, as we were sent forward in time. We appeared and saw a guard with his back turned to us, I grabbed Eric and crept around the guard as he turned, now we were behind him. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked at Eric who simultaneously looked at me. We both turned around and saw a guard staring at us,
"Well, well, well, what do we have 'ere?", he said with a stern look on his face, "You've been nicked!"
We were dragged across the concrete footpath and thrown into a police car. I felt something tugging on my arm, so I looked to see Erik fiddling with the TimeWatch.
"No!", I screamed, I attempted to stop him but he kept pressing buttons. I unattached the TimeWatch as Eric tried to stop me by pressing random buttons. There was a flash of rainbow light, as the TimeWatch traveled to an unknown location by itself.
"YOU IDIOT!", I yelled
"What?!"
"NOW I'LL NEVER GET BACK HOME!"
"You tried to stop me!"
"YOU WOULD HAVE KILLED US BY SENDING US TO A TIME BEFORE THIS CAR WAS HERE AND GOTTEN US RUN OVER!"
"I didn't think..."
"THAT'S THE PROBLEM! YOU NEVER THINK!"
"Oi!Keep it down back there, I'm trying to drive!", yelled the driver suddenly
"Yes sir...", we said at the same time as we gave each other stern looks.
It was obvious that he wasn't going to apologise, so I had to instead,
"Look, I'm sorry Erik...", I turned to face him and saw him grab the keys from the guards pocket.
"Distract him..." He said quietly
"Yyyyyyyaaaaaaawwwwwwwnnnnnnn!!!!!" I did the biggest yawn in history that could shatter all of the windows in Buckingham Palace, while Erik opened the door
"Jump!", he rolled out of the car
"See ya!" I shouted and jumped after him
"Huh?" The guard was so shocked that he nearly drove into a bus
"Yeah!", me and Erik both cheered as we hi-fived
"Sorry about before...", I started
"No, I should be the one apologising", he said,"I don't want to lose your friendship because, well, your the only friend I have"
as these words came to my ears, I realised that he was my only friend too
"Friends forever?"
"Friends forever, so, what now?"
"Well, we're too far away from home, the TimeWatch has travelled to an unknown time and we don't have enough money to get to China"
"What if you built some sort of, invisibility ray? Then we could sneak onto a plane for China!"
"That's genius! But I'll need some tools..."
"I'm on it!"
