Second Place

For the last couple of years, I've watched my boyfriend Johnny win back-to-back All Valley tournaments.  Tonight was supposed to collect the rare achievement of winning three years in a row, but the rookie LaRusso beat him in the final. Naturally, I'm bummed on his behalf , but he still made it to the finals for a third consecutive year, which is really impressive. I'm worried how Kreese will react to his loss once the crowd is gone. He doesn't tolerate failure. It's no secret that I despise that man.

With everyone seeping out of the building, I get caught up chatting to a friend of my mother. Her son was in the tournament, but he didn't get very far. Every time I try to leave, she changes the subject. She's a nice woman, but she can get a bit overbearing at times. When I finally manage to break away from her, I shuffle my way to the exits. The second I spot the Cobras, a shouting match is already underway. Kreese just couldn't wait, could he?

"I did my best!"

"You're nothing! You're a loser!" Kreese spits back.

"No, you're the loser!" Johnny argues  with the madman.

"I'm the loser, huh? Now, who's the loser?" Kreese stares straight into Johnny's eyes as he destroys his second place trophy and tosses away the pieces.

"You know, you're really sick, man." In a moment of unbridled rage, Kreese grabs Johnny and puts him in a tight chokehold.

"Hey, come on!" Bobby tries to help him but is swiftly elbowed in the ribs.

"What are you doing?" Tommy goes to help but is warned not to.

"Don't!"

"Let him go!"

"How does second place feel now?" Kreese taunts Johnny as he struggles.

"Come on, he can't breathe!"

"Leave him alone! He didn't do anything!" I sprint over to them.

"Mind your business!"

"You're gonna kill him! Stop it! Please! Let him go!" I plead.

"I've had enough of you, missy!" He backhands me across the face. I almost fall to the floor, but Bobby grabs me before I can hit the ground.

"Sensei, please! You're hurting him! He's sorry, okay? He really is!" Tommy begs.

"Oi, let him go." Daniel and his sensei step in.

"Mr Miyagi's right. Let him go!" Tommy steps forward, only to be slapped away again.

"Tommy!"

"I say let him go," Miyagi stands firm.

"Beat it, slope, or you're next."

Mr Miyagi quickly disarms Kreese and sends him into the car opposite us. Finally, free from his grasp, Johnny collapses, falling forward. Thankfully, I'm able to act fast enough to stop him from hitting the floor.

"Johnny, are you okay?" I frantically check on him, though he's not totally conscious.

Kreese readies his fists whilst staring down the calm sensei. As he throws a punch, Mr Miyagi steps to the side, causing Kreese's fist to smash through his car window. He glances at the blood on his hand and becomes even more enraged. He launches his other fist at the man just for him to move again, sending his fist through the window of another car. Mr Miyagi grabs his shoulder, pushes him to his knees, and recites one of Kreese's signature lines with a raised hand.

"Mercy is for the weak. We do not train to be merciful here. A man face you, he is enemy. Enemy deserve no mercy."

The look on Kreese's face is one I never thought I'd see. Fear. Miyagi lets out a battle grunt as he goes to strike the psychopath. However, he stops just before he makes contact. Instead, he turns his hand into a claw and grabs his nose.
