Y/N POV

Today had been a boring day for you, your chores were done, you had no errands, and your parents just kept to themselves like usual. Darkness was all you saw as you laid on your bed, your room being the only place in the only world were you felt safe, yet still on edge. Thoughts shifted in your head with the darkness reflected off your eyelids as your only sight. Suddenly, a notification interrupted you, and it was from Gyutaro; it was simple and straight to the point.

It read, 'There's a party tonight, me and Ume are going, do you wanna come?'

Gyutaro just invited you to a party, you'd be able to spend time with him and his sister, who you were sure hated you for some reason. You immediately texted him back, and you typed it so fast you nearly dropped your phone.

'I'd love to come.'

But right after you sent the text you realized your parents would never allow you to go to a party, well, only if they knew about it.

'When's the party?'

After a few agonizing seconds, Gyutaro responded, 'Around nine thirty.'

'Can you pick me up at the park next to the school at nine?'

'Sure.'

The first part was all set, now you just needed to find a good way to leave without your parents knowledge.

Gyutaro POV

I felt my heart beat faster when I read Y/N's message, and I walked home with a pep in my step. When I got home and walked up to Ume, she looked a little shocked when she saw my face.

"...You're smiling."

My hand came up to feel my face and there was a smile there, a very small genuine one. There was a warm sensation in my chest and I felt my heart gently thump against my ribcage. I wasn't sure what I felt in this moment, but I knew that I wanted to feel more of it.

"Y/N's coming with us," I matter-of-factly told Ume.

She looked pissed, then she walked over to me and glared into my eyes.

"Why does she have to come with us?" Ume asked me in an annoyed tone with pursed lips.

A sigh escaped from my lips, then I told Ume, "My condition for going with you was that I'd bring somebody else, and I chose her."

I could see that Ume was fuming, and it looked like she was about to explode, before she just turned away from me and crossed her arms.

"Fine."

A soft chuckle left me at Ume's one word reply, and I gently patted the top of her head.

"We're gonna go get her at nine."

Ume pulled out her phone to look at the time, and I peeked over to shoulder to see it too: it was currently four o'clock, and her background was of a famous K-pop boy band. My shoulders slumped when I realized I had to wait for five hours to see Y/N; I wanted to see her now. An idea popped into my head at that exact moment, then I turned to leave the room.

"Where are you going?" Ume asked me, and she had crossed her arms when I looked over my shoulder at her.

With one simple word, I answered her, "Out."

An annoyed huff left Ume and she pouted, but then she told me, "Just don't be late."

When I walked into the living room, I saw that Inosuke's mom had finished in the kitchen and was now sat on the couch with a book in hand, she wore reading glasses.

"Kotoha," I said her name to get her attention, then I told her, "I'm going out for awhile, and I told Inosuke he could have my share of tempura at dinner."

A warm smile spread across her face, then she told me in a soft voice, "Alright, be safe, darling."

"I'm not your son..." I grumbled under my breath so that she couldn't hear me, as I rubbed the back of my neck in annoyance at her little name she called me. Thankfully, she didn't hear me.

After I left the house, I walked down the street and around the block until I reached a small alley. I couldn't help the smile that cracked across my face as I approached the best thing I ever decided to buy. Slowly, my hand grabbed onto and pulled the tarp off of the Yamaha XS 650 I bought off one of the white haired Shinazugawa brother. I bought it for cheap cause it was a pile of junk, then I slowly repaired and brought it back to nearly pristine condition. The engine purred to life as I turned the key in the ignition, then I sat down and pressed my cheek onto the sleek metal to feel the rumble of the engine on my face.

I turned the throttle a few times to make it roar before I drove out of the alley. I felt free as the wind blew through my long hair, I even bought goggles so I could still see as I drove helmet-free. As I rode around town, I stopped at each of my favorite spots: a small hole in the wall restaurant that made the best noodles, an arcade and movie theater in one building, and a park that was just beautiful at night. Those three spots were my favorite in this town, and I thought about how I could show them to Y/N if we ever hung out again, just me and her.

Before I knew it, my face was all flushed, and I could feel the heat in my face even with the cold air on my face as I drove. I wasn't used to the feeling I got in my chest whenever I thought of Y/N, but I knew that I liked it a lot. After about an hour, I drove my bike back into the alley and covered it up with the tarp again. I tried to be careful with my bike, since if a cop caught me I'd be in a lot of trouble, and I'd rather not lose that bike or get talked to by my dad. Ume was at the door when I got back, and she looked unbothered.

"Out on your bike again, huh?"

I immediately shushed Ume, but she brushed off the notion.

"Kotoha's gone to her room, we're fine."

A sigh of relief left me, before I nodded my head and told Ume, "Yeah."

We both walked into the house, then I sat down on the couch and Ume sat next to me. My eyes wandered over to the clock, and I couldn't help but count down each second until it struck nine.
