Jason felt like someone had punched all the air out of his lungs.
His anger evaporated completely, replaced with shocked silence. His brain didn't know how to comprehend the information he'd just been told.
He stared at the other, completely stunned. "You... what?" He said, his voice a whisper. "You, you're... pregnant?"
The brunet's anger died down a bit as well, replaced by a rush of anxiety.
He swallowed thickly, his heart rate speeding up at the feeling of panic. He couldn't read the expression on the other's face, and that only fueled his anxiety further.
"Yeah," he said, his voice a bit quieter than it was before. "I am. Seven weeks. That's what's been going on."
Jason felt a whirlwind of emotions crash over him all at once. Shock, surprise, disbelief, confusion, anger, worry. It was all too much.
He sat in stunned silence for a moment, trying to process what the other had just told him. After a few moments, he spoke.
"How... how long have you known?" He said, his voice still quiet.
The brunet let out a breath, his heart beating wildly in his chest. He avoided the other's gaze, not able to meet his eyes.
"Since the night it happened," he replied, his voice strained. "I found out a couple days after. I've been dealing with it on my own for the past six and a half weeks."
Jason's mind was racing, trying to calculate the dates in his head.
The night it happened... six and a half weeks ago.
His face paled slightly as realization dawned on him. "Wait a minute..." he said slowly, his voice low.
The brunet swallowed thickly, knowing where this was going.
He finally lifted his gaze to look at the other, his face showing a mixture of anxiety and resignation.
"Yes, dumbass," he said, his voice a bit shaky. "It's yours."
Jason felt a wave of shock wash over him, his mind still trying to process what the other had just confirmed.
All the pieces suddenly fell into place, and the realization crashed into him like a freight train. He was going to be a father.
He sat in stunned silence for a moment, his mind racing with a thousand different emotions. He finally spoke, his voice shaky. "How... how can you be sure?"
The brunet let out a breath, his heart racing in his chest.
"Trust me, I'm sure," he said, his voice a bit strained. "The dates line up, there's no possible way it's anyone else's."
He swallowed thickly, his hands trembled a bit as he struggled to keep his composure. "And besides, I've been dealing with all the... symptoms and stuff."
Jason felt a rush of panic as the reality of the situation fully hit him.
He was going to be a father, and the child was his.
He tried to process the information, but his mind was racing too fast to make any sense of it. He was completely overwhelmed and confused.
"Sym-symptoms...?" He said, his voice shaky. "What... what kind of symptoms?"
The brunet let out a breath, his heart hammering in his chest.
"You know... all the classic ones. Morning sickness, nausea, cravings, fatigue," he said, his voice a little shaky. "But I can't exactly see a doctor to confirm it, so it's just kind of an 'educated guess' right now."
