Zayd's POV
After dropping Amina off at the hospital, I headed to the office. Today, I had to finish all my work on time because I needed to pick her up later. For some reason, the thought of that made me happy. I had to admit—her pancakes were incredible, and she really was an excellent cook.
As I entered the office building, everyone stood up and greeted me. I gave them a curt nod and walked toward the elevator, followed closely by my PA. My office was on the 35th floor.
Once inside my office, Mrs. Ahmed, my PA, began detailing my schedule for the day.
I removed my coat, hung it on the hanger, and settled into my chair.
"Mrs. Ahmed, cancel all my meetings after 5 PM," I said, cutting her off mid-sentence.
"Ok, sir," she replied, quickly noting it down on her iPad.
"Sir, we have the meeting with the team members now. Everyone is already in the meeting room," Mrs. Ahmed informed me.
"Okay, I'll be there in a moment," I replied, pulling my phone out of my pocket.
"Yes, sir," she said before leaving the room.
I dialed mom's number, and she picked up after a few rings.
"I've reached home safely, so don't worry," she said before I could even ask.
I smiled. "Alright," I replied. After a brief exchange, I ended the call.
I put on my coat and headed to the meeting room. As I entered, everyone stood up and greeted me. I nodded in acknowledgment and took my seat at the head of the table. Once I was seated, the rest of the team followed suit, and the meeting began.
The atmosphere in the meeting room was light for once, with smiles all around.
"I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the hard work that went into this project," I said, looking at each team member. "We hit our targets ahead of schedule, and it's all because of your dedication."
A round of applause broke out, and I could see the pride on their faces.
"Now, let's not lose momentum," I added. "What's next on the agenda?"
The meeting concluded, and we finalized the discussions about the next project. I returned to my office, where the team leader entered shortly after, handing me the new project report.
"You can leave now," I said curtly, not bothering to look up, and she quickly exited my office.
I picked up my phone and dialed Saad's number. He answered after two rings.
"Where are you?" I asked, my tone firm.
"In my office," he replied. I ended the call without another word and stood, grabbing my coat.
As I stepped out of my cabin and walked toward the lift, I noticed two female employees standing by it. Their conversation caught my attention.
"The president's wife must be so lucky. She's got such a handsome and wealthy husband," the one in the pink top said, and a smirk tugged at my lips.
"Yeah, but he's so arrogant and cold-hearted. I feel sorry for his wife," the one in the white top added. My smirk vanished instantly, replaced by a flash of irritation.
"What are you two doing in front of my lift?" I asked, my voice sharp. Both women flinched, spinning around with wide eyes.
"We're sorry, sir, but the employee lift hasn't been coming up for a while," the one in the pink top stammered, while her colleague in white nodded nervously.
