Indigo couldn't breathe. The photo was of her. Of course it was her. And it was her in a white gown – the one she absolutely hated – on her wedding day. It was the day her lief ended. Her mind wasn't processing a single thing he said. In fact, she felt like she never had a thought in her life. She was entirely numb.
"Where did you get this?" she thundered, snatching it out of Caspian's hands as if physically taking it from him would remove it from his memory as well.
"Alpha Andrew sent it," Caspian repeated steadily, green eyes searching her.
Indigo felt like her body was dissolving into the seat. She had no limbs, no lungs. All she could hear was the ringing in her ears and the repetition of his name. Andrew. Andrew. Andrew.
Caspian knew too much. She was a fool. She was an idiot. She was putting him in such grave danger. Andrew wouldn't tolerate another man claiming what he assumed was his. She should have left ages ago. She should have left this morning when she had a chance. She was on her feet, ignoring the slap of dizziness and sickness that struck her. She needed to go. Now. She could fix this. She had to.
"No," Caspian blurted, his green eyes flashing. He had been so kind and so gentle in the entirety of their relationship, but suddenly, he grabbed her shoulders, forcing her to stop. "You don't get to run from me without giving me some answers first, Indigo. I can't live the rest of my life not knowing."
"You're trapping me here?" she snarled back at him.
A flash of something crossed his face, gone before she could really identify it. "For now, yes. I'm not letting you leave until you give me some answers, Indie. I will make sure that you stay with me for the entire day, no matter what. We just need time to sort this out."
"And after that?"
"We'll decide then, won't we?"
Her mind spun. He wanted answers. She wanted to get away. Lies. She would tell him lies. It would hurt like hell, but it would save him. It would save her. "Fine, I'm married to Andrew. Is that what you wanted to hear?"
Evidently not considering how pale Caspian became immediately. "How long were you married?"
"We are still married," she shot back. It was a disgusting thing to say. It made bile crawl up her throat.
"You look really young in the picture. How old were you when you got married."
"Young," she replied hotly. "What is the point of this interrogation, Caspian? What do you want me to tell you?"
"The fucking truth, Indie!" he rumbled back.
Well, she certainly wasn't going to do that, not if she wanted to make it off these packlands and time soon. "Fine, here's the truth! I married a strong, wealthy alpha. We were together happily for years. I take a little bit of silver everyday to make sure that I keep my werewolf out of the situation because I love Andrew. I love him more than anything in the world. And if I could be with him now, I would pick him over you in a fucking heartbeat!"
The words made her want to scream. She wanted to pluck them out of the air as soon as she released them. Especially when Caspian stumbled back a step, releasing his hold on her.
In for a penny, in for a pound. "The silver wasn't fucking strong enough though. My wolf started to come through. I had to leave Andrew so I wouldn't hurt him when I couldn't control my wolf. And then I found you. Now we're here, arguing in your alpha's house because you can't accept that I don't want you. I never have."
"Holy fuck," Caspian gasped, scrubbing his hands over his face.
"Exactly. This isn't what any of us wanted. The best thing for you to do right now is to let me go so I can return to Andrew and this whole thing can be over. I'm sure you can find some pretty, unmated girl—"
"Indie, stop. Do you think I'm stupid?" Caspian snapped.
She jerked back as if he had struck her.
"You just happened to disappear when Andrew stopped in and you weren't seen again until you went into heat. That sounds like a very convenient coincidence to me. And your timeline doesn't add up. Andrew has been searching for his wife and daughter for fucking years. You have been a rogue for about that long. And if you left him for his sake, why would he be looking for you?" Caspian challenged.
"What do you want me to say, Caspian?" she roared back.
"I just want you to tell me the fucking truth for once, Indigo!"
And it tore out of her. "My parents fucking sold me to him! Is that what you wanted to hear?"
They both froze. They stared at each other for two blinks.
Indigo's knees weakened. She sank to the floor with a dull thud. And she began to sob.

Who do you travel with?
Now, I travel with my partner. Before, I traveled with my family. I seldom travel with friends because I don't really like the way other people travel. I need my own space and down time while still getting all my activities in.
