BREIANA'S POV
▪5 MONTHS LATER▪
It's been 5 months since the whole incident with Drake. When I got home that night, I called the police and they found and arrested him. 20 years in prison. He couldn't hurt me anymore. He can't hurt Misty. No more. It's over.
Ever since then, I have not been the same. I didn't do Spring Season of softball. Everyone was supportive and understood. My grades started slumping a bit. I started getting Bs and C's. Which has never happened before. I was disappointed in myself. But nonetheless, I graduated. Every night I'd have countless nightmares. It was hell. The first time I smiled was when they sentenced Drake to 20 years. That was 2 months ago. That was the only time I smiled in the past 5 months.
My parents came home 1 week after the incident. Even though they never really say 1 word to us. They truly seemed like they actually cared. Sad thing is, they totally ignored Misty. She's the only person that can touch me. After what happened I've just been afraid. If someone even taps my shoulder, I flinch and start freaking out; memories flooding into my eyes of that night. Within the next few weeks, everyone at school found out. I even heard Josh, one of Drake's best friends went to visit him at prison and almost beat the crap out of him. Josh was also one of my best friends. Always calls me sis. But I still wouldn't let him touch me.
Not even Ellie could touch me. Or Marty. Or Autumn. No one but Misty. Ellie, Marty, Autumn and I have been friends since nappies. But still. I just could not trust anyone. I'm going to have to deal with it though. Tomorrow, we leave to Manchester. Where we are going to start college. Sadly, Marty and I aren't dorm mates. Which is sad because Ellie and Autumn are. Bootyheads. I have never met my dorm mate but I know it's a girl and she's a sophomore in college. I don't know what i want my degree to be. People don't know this, but I love writing. I've written stories and even songs. And they're okay. Maybe I should get a degree in creative writing... Yeah. I should.
What makes me upset, is I won't be able to see Misty a whole lot. It's a while away and we're both gonna be busy with school. She's gonna be a freshman. Last week was her birthday. Mum and Dad better take care of her. She should not have to be alone all the time, like I was. That's one thing I'm going to talk to mum and dad in the morning tomorrow. If they even wake up that early. Ellie, Marty and I are leaving at 6:30am so we get get everything set up. I'm super nervous. College. It's crazy. And praise the lord! Satan lost all of his scholarship! His parents gave it to me, but I gave 1/3 to Marty, another 1/3 to ellie and I have gave the last to Autumn.
"Sis?" Speak of the devil... Misty walks into my almost empty room. I don't know how, but I fit 95% of my stuff into 3 suitcases. Some stuff I am leaving for Misty.
"What's up baby girl?" She looks at me weirdly.
"I am not a baby." I roll my eyes. "Anyways. I wanted to talk to you. I don't want you to leave. I know I'm 14, and I can sort of take care of myself. But you're basically my best friend. Sure I have Kianna and Leanna, but they can't always hang out. Can I just live with you? Please?" She's breaking my heart. I pull her in for a hug.
"Mist, you have to understand. I am going to live in a dorm. Just for the college students. And even if I had me own flat, I would not be home all the time. But you know what? Maybe when I'm done with school, and I find my own place, you can. But no promises." She nods and snuggles into me. We've never been so far away from each other and it's taking a toll on the both of us. I look at my alarm and see it says 10:30pm. "Okay sis. I gotta get some sleep. I'm leaving early. Do you want me to wake you up before we go?" Misty shakes her head.
"Can I sleep with you tonight?" I smile and nod. After a while, my eyes flutter down and go into a nightmare-less sleep.
▪THE NEXT MORNING▪
My alarm goes off at 6 am. Today is the day when I start my life. Leaving the past behind me.
I swing my legs over the side of the bed and rub the sleep out of my eyes. Looking over my shoulder, I see Mist looking at me, like she is about to cry.
"Come here boo." I say. She crawls over to me and starts crying. I stroke her hair and try to calm her down. "Ya know what, love? I will call you as soon as I get there. And after I am done unpacking, I will call you. Before I go to sleep, I will call. 3 times, everyday. Maybe even some texts randomly. Okay?" She nods. "Alright Mist. I gotta get ready." I get up and Misty ventures out.
After getting dressed (pictures above) I walk into my bathroom and do my make up and hair.
The past couple months have consisted of sweatpants or running shorts with Nike Slides and tank tops. But today, I'm freeing myself of my past. It will be difficult, but I will get through it.
THIRD PERSON POV
At 6:30 sharp, Marty's SUV pulls up along with Ellie. Breiana comes out of the house pulling 2 suitcases, Misty trailing behind her with one. After putting her stuff in the back, the Hogan girls go inside. After about 5 minutes of Bre telling her parents to take care of Misty and pay attention to her for once, she walks out with tears streaming down her face.
"Alright girls. Let's go to college!" Marty exclaims, honking the horn.
ELLIE'S POV
▪5 HOURS LATER▪
5. Hours. At least. It's almost lunch. I need food. Ugh. I'm tired. I just want to get into my dorm, and sleep for 10 years. But of course, Autumn will probably be bouncing of the walls and piss herself because she will be so excited. So lucky to have her as my dorm mate. It's because she is crazy I love her. Eventually, we pull into the parking lot. There must be thousands of people here. Well duh. It's a college for Pete's sake.
"OMG! THIS IS AMAZING!" Marty screams. I look back at Autumn, surprised she isn't sayin- screaming- anything. I understood why. She was bouncing up and down in her seat like she sees pizza. Breiana is covering her mouth.
"EW AUTUMN WHAT THE HELL?!" Breiana exclaims. Autumn just sits there laughing her head off.
"What'd she do this time?" Marty asked, trying to find our building.
"The brat licked me!" That caused us all to laugh. Wait...all? Breiana laughed? "Don't look at me like that Ellie. Yes I laughed. Leave me alone." She said. That caused us all to cheer. College is going to be one fun ride.
BREIANA'S POV
Okay. Yes I laughed. The girls are my family. I'm glad I'm with them and away from London. Where he was, yet locked away.
After about 20 minutes after finding our building (luckily, all 4 of us are in the same building) we get our keys and go see our dorms. Ellie and Autumn are on floor 2, room 10. Marty and her dorm mate, Kellie Jones (who seems lovely) are on floor 5, room 7. And my dorm mate and I are on floor 8, room 2. The girls and I are so close, but so far away. Eh. Who cares!
I book it up to my room, after meeting Kellie, so I can meet my own dorm mate. The woman at the front desk told me her name was Eleanor Calder. Autumn, Marty and Ellie looked like they just saw a ghost. The name sounds familiar...
Getting my keys ready, I unlock the door and step into my new home for the next few years.
"Hi! You must be Breiana! I'm Eleanor Jane Calder. You can call me El if you'd like!" She says coming up to hug me. I quickly stick out my hand. She looks confused for a second, but shakes it anyway.
"Nice to meet you." I say. Looking around I see 2 beds, one decorated nicely and the other bare. There is a small kitchen and a walk in closet.
"Love, you're out of toilet paper!" A man calls, coming out of what I am guessing is the restroom. "Oh hi. You must be El's roommate. I'm Louis."
