The warm June breeze swept through the streets as the excitement for prom filled the air. Taylor stood in front of her mirror, smoothing the soft fabric of her dress. It was a flowing, pale lavender gown with thin straps and delicate floral embroidery that trailed along the bodice. Her blonde curls were loosely pinned back, leaving soft tendrils to frame her face, and her makeup was subtle yet radiant. She looked ethereal, but her focus wasn't on herself. She was waiting for Travis.
At exactly 6:30 PM, the familiar rumble of Travis's truck echoed from the driveway. Taylor's heart skipped as she glanced out the window. He was stepping out of his truck, looking effortlessly handsome in a fitted black suit paired with a lavender tie that perfectly matched her dress. His hair was styled neatly, though still holding that signature messy charm.
She opened the door before he could knock.
"Wow," Travis said, taking a step back and letting his eyes roam appreciatively. "You look... incredible."
Taylor blushed, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "You're not so bad yourself, Kelce. Who knew you could clean up this well?"
He grinned and held out a small bouquet of white roses, their edges tinged with lavender. "For you. Thought they'd match."
Taylor's face lit up. "They're perfect. Thank you."
Andrea appeared in the hallway, her camera in hand. "Alright, you two, stand together. I need at least ten pictures before you leave!"
Travis chuckled as Taylor groaned, but they posed obediently, laughing as Andrea fussed over angles and lighting.

The prom was being held in the grand ballroom of the local community center. The venue was decked out with shimmering lights, a dance floor in the center, and tables lining the walls draped in lavender and silver linens.
As they entered, all eyes seemed to turn toward them. Taylor was used to attention—it came with being Taylor Swift—but tonight, she felt different. Travis was by her side, his hand resting protectively on the small of her back.
"You're stealing the show," Travis murmured as they made their way inside.
"Not true," Taylor whispered back. "It's you in that suit."
The night unfolded beautifully. They danced to slow songs, swaying in perfect rhythm as Travis held her close.
"You know," he said, his voice low near her ear, "I think this might be one of my favorite nights ever."
Taylor tilted her head up to look at him. "Why's that?"
"Because I get to be here with you."
She smiled, her cheeks flushing pink. "I feel the same way."
When they weren't dancing, they mingled with Taylor's friends, took photos in the photo booth, and shared laughs over silly anecdotes from school.
As the night neared its end, Travis guided Taylor outside to a quiet corner of the patio. The soft glow of string lights illuminated their faces.
"I have something for you," Travis said, reaching into his jacket pocket.
"Travis," Taylor said softly, her heart racing, "you didn't have to—"
"I wanted to," he interrupted, pulling out a small velvet box.
Opening it, he revealed a simple, elegant silver ring with a tiny amethyst stone nestled in the center.
